American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN PCU - Progressive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Columbus, Ohio. Job Description & Requirements Specialty: PCU - Progressive Care Unit Discipline: RN Start Date: 04/06/2026 Duration: 16 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PCU - Acute Leukemia and Hematology position at an academic cancer hospital, requiring a minimum of 2 years of nursing experience and telemetry skills. Responsibilities PCU setting within a specialized acute leukemia and hematology unit at a cancer hospital Patient population consists primarily of newly diagnosed acute leukemia patients (adults and geriatrics) Goal staffing ratio of 1:4, with potential for 1:5 based on unit needs 12-hour night shifts (7pm–7:30am), with potential for rotating day/night scheduling depending on contract type If scheduled on a day/night rotating contract, shift assignments (days, nights, or a combination) are reviewed every 4-week scheduling period Weekend scheduling is variable based on unit needs No set or blocked scheduling; self-scheduling requests are accepted before the schedule is finalized Charting is performed in Epic Strong emphasis on infection prevention protocols and patient fall prevention Chemo certification is NOT required for this position ONS Chemo Certification and NIHSS are preferred but not required Orientation consists of the first week on day shift (Mon–Fri), followed by a second week of 36 hours of on-unit orientation with a preceptor First-time travelers will be considered and are screened for client review All time-off and scheduling requests must be submitted at the time of initial application Travelers changing representation do not require a 30-day break between assignments at this health system Requirements Active OH or compact RN license currently in hand Current BLS and ACLS certifications required Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required Med/surg and telemetry experience required, including dysrhythmia interpretation and telemetry monitoring Proficiency with IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, central line blood draws, peripheral line care, PICC line management, and IV starts Experience with feeding tube care and management Familiarity with Rapid Response Team protocols 2 professional supervisory references from within the past 2 years required for consideration Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-679465.
