The candidate of choice must be comfortable working in a Prison environment as you will be required to work in facility daily. The Washington State Department of Corrections (DOC) is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Corrections Specialist Assistant to join the Resolutions team at the Washington Corrections Center for Women (WCCW)! Under the supervision of the Resolution Specialist, the goal of this position is to provide primary, confidential support to the Resolutions team. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting in addressing Incarcerated Individual (I/I) concerns and resolution requests in accordance with the Department of Corrections (DOC) Resolution Program Manual (RPM. The candidate of choice will assist in the resolution process by compiling records, assisting with paperwork and conducting the weekly Resolution Program Orientation for incarcerated individuals and new staff. This position supports the department's mission by filling an important role in the Resolutions Program which is a critical correctional program. As a Corrections Specialist Assistant, some of your duties will include: Coordinating administrative function duties within WCCW's Resolution Program which could look like: Assigning investigations to appropriate staff Reviewing documents for compliance Ensuring timely interviews are conducted Encouraging and modeling informal remedies options Ensuring that incarcerated individuals are interviewed at least once before a resolution is submitted at Level III Providing directions to incarcerated individuals in writing, including directing them to the appropriate administrative process Correcting administrative suggested responses provided by investigators when appropriate with the exception of medical responses Tracking all assigned investigations ensuring administrative responses are timely Conducting thorough investigations Confirming research, and fact finding is accomplished at all levels for appropriate and accurate administrative response Complete administrative tasks for the WCCW Resolution Department including: Assuming responsibility for the office management for the Resolution Department Using independent judgment to accomplish the administrative duties Coordinating timely submission of reports and completion of work for the Resolution Coordinator Researching and submitting information and documentation in response to public disclosures or any other additional information required by the WCCW/Public Information Officer (PIO) Other duties as assigned Qualifications What we need (required qualifications):High School diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent AND Four (4) years of increasingly responsible office/clerical work experience OR Four (4) years experience in a correctional field office or institution with Two (2) years being at the senior clerical level or higher.
