Job Summary: The Sonographer-Advanced MFM, under minimal supervision, performs complex diagnostic ultrasound exams and participates in Maternal Fetal Medicine procedures for CH and LLUH facilities. Provides high level of care to high risk obstetrics ultrasound patients. Provides excellence in clinical services, in educational activities, in research and development activities, in employee environmental conditions, and in reduction of medical cost. Performs other duties as needed. Education and Experience: Associate's Degree required. Graduate of a Commission of Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) Program required. Minimum Two years ultrasound/specialty experience required. Experience may be considered in lieu of education if licensure and certification requirements are met. Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge and use of transducers and ultrasound instrumentation. Able to: read; write legibly; speak in English (and Spanish preferred) with professional quality; use computer and software programs necessary to the position; troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment. Relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; be assertive and consistent in following and/or enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; collaborate and accept direction. Think critically; work independently with minimal supervision; perform basic math functions; manage multiple assignments effectively; work well under pressure; problem solve; organize and prioritize workload; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail. Distinguish colors and smells as necessary for patient care; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone; identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the work place/patient care; see adequately to read computer screens, medical records, and written documents necessary to position; discern temperature variances through touch. Licensures and Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association required. Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) certification in OB/GYN required. Specialty in Fetal Echocardiography or Abdomen required. Specialty credential Nuchal Translucency preferred.
