Cylinder Maintenance Technician - Houston, TX

POSITION SUMMARY Perform visual and physical testing of cylinder packs, high pressure cylinders and liquid containers and determine required repairs. Repair filling equipment, such as pigtails, fill hoses, valves and safeties. Operate a forklift Receive incoming new cylinders and cylinder maintenance supplies Inspect cylinders for neck leaks and safety leaks Housekeeping and light plant maintenance on vacuum pumps and compressors ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Perform maintenance on all gas cylinders, high and low pressure, and liquid containers in accordance with safety procedures, quality Understands hazards of various gases, size and contents of cylinders by reading and interpreting cylinder labels and the color-coding of tanks. Comply with safety programs, OSHA, and all related rules, regulations, procedures which are applicable to this position's responsibilities Complies with all government and company standards relating to the safe handling of hazardous materials/cylinder gases. Maintains a neat, clean and orderly workplace through proper housekeeping procedures (5S) Monitors inventory of maintenance supplies and parts Sets tone for employees by good example through observation of the company's loss prevention policies and procedures. Adheres to all quality assurance policies and standards Reports accidents including near misses, unsafe acts or conditions and obeys safety rules. Required For All Jobs Performs other duties as assigned Complies with all policies and standards Qualifications High School Diploma or Equivalent Work Experience 1-3 years' experience working in a warehouse or plant KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES Detail-oriented and self-motivated, with the ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Accuracy in following procedures and regulations is essential. Any candidate for this position should be in strong physical condition as the demands of the job are physical in nature.
