Salary/Hourly Rate:$26.57 Job Summary This position uses some subject-matter knowledge and judgment to complete assignments consisting of numerous steps varying in nature and sequence. The General Clerk III selects from alternative methods and refers problems not solvable by adapting or interpreting substantive guides, manuals, or procedures. Typical duties include assisting in a variety of administrative matters; verifying statistical reports for accuracy and completeness; compiling information; and handling and adjusting complaints. The General Clerk III also directs lower-level clerks. Reasonableaccommodationsmay be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Theseduties and responsibilities will be rated on the Annual Performance Review. Receives, classifies, reconciles, interprets,consolidates, and/or summarizes documents and informationutilizingstandard office equipment. Maintains files and records of documents processed. Prepares and compiles reports within prescribedguidelinesgathering data from a variety of sources. Interfaces with customers, suppliers, or company employees outside the immediate work area on a regular basis to give or exchange information. Sort, deliver and pick up mail,filesand/or other documents for designated areas. Additional Responsibilities Perform driving duties throughout the National Capital Region. Responsible for performing job in safe manner, with concern for others and a desire to increase production; If needed, process machinable mail (folding, inserting, sealing, and opening). Follow HAZMAT procedures for handling potentially hazardous mail. Process accountable mailutilizingaccountable mail tracking system. Process unidentifiable accountable mail. May require opening and reading mail andforwardto appropriatelocation. May require processing requests for publications. Provide coverage at offsite locations as needed. May back up otherGeneralClerksand guide or train other General Clerks as needed. Perform other responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications: Education, Experience, andCertification(s) Highschooldiploma,orGeneralEducational Development(GED)required. Ability tooperatemultiple automated systems and mail processing equipment Preferred experience working in a mail center. Must hold andmaintaina Top-Secret clearance. Will be subject to a U.S. Government background check/investigation. Ability to obtain a Department of Transportation (DOT) card to safelyoperatevehicles. Must have a valid U.S. Driver's License and a clean driving record.Possessdriving knowledge of roadways throughout the NCR (Washington, DC, Virginia, and Maryland) with excellentproficiencyonroutesrequiredfor pick-up anddeliverydestinations. Preferredknowledge of U.S Postal regulationsin the process of dealingwith incoming, outgoing, certified, registered, insured and express mail. Experience in operating various mailroom machinesrequired Knowledge, Skills,and Abilities Ability to perform routine tasks on special class mail as well as routine and repetitive tasks forlong periodswith minimum supervision. Must be able to stand, reach, and walk forlong periodsof time. Ability to obtain andmaintaina government issued security clearance. Ability to make minor decisionsregardingmail issues/questions. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules,operatingand maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability towriteroutine reports and correspondence. Good readingand writing skills. Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers, multiply, and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement,volumeand distance. Ability to interpret a variety of instructionsfurnishedin written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Basic ability tooperatea computer using Microsoft Office software and accountable mail tracking system. Basic typing skills.
