Position description UCLA Extension is considered one of the top programs of its kind, offering to more than 35,000 students per year approximately 4,500 classes and non-degree certificate programs to meet the professional development, continuing education, and personal enrichment needs of the full spectrum of nontraditional students as well as companies and organizations throughout and beyond the Los Angeles region. Course / Program Description UCLA Extension is considered one of the top institutions of its kind, offering to more than 32,000 students per year approximately 4,500 classes and non-degree certificate programs to meet the professional development, continuing education and personal enrichment needs of the full spectrum of nontraditional students as well as companies and organizations throughout and beyond the Los Angeles region. The Engineering and Computer Science Academic Unit offers a wide variety of certificate programs and courses including post-baccalaureate credit-bearing (400-level) and continuing education (CEU) credit courses. Course disciplines span engineering, computer science and technical management subject areas. UCLA Extension courses and certificate programs offer students the opportunity to learn from highly qualified practitioners who hold advanced degrees and are passionate about teaching and can impart knowledge within their field of expertise. Job Description Project Management instructor to teach courses in a variety of modalities as follows: 100% online, live-online (zoom), or in-person in Westwood or downtown Los Angeles. We are looking for professionals who can convey their industry experience and knowledge to our students using actual work examples and applications of topics covered in the courses. Industry experience is a must. Applications to teach are accepted throughout the year to fill immediate program needs and to increase the depth of the instructor pool. Qualified applicants possessing current knowledge and teaching experience in the following topic area(s) are encouraged to apply:Fundamentals of Project ManagementProject Schedule and Cost ManagementProject Quality and LeadershipProject Risk and Procurement ManagementProject Management CapstoneProject Planning with MS ProjectLeadership and Human Element in Project ManagementProject Monitoring and ControlProject Management Professional (PMP) Exam Prep Training Instructor Duties: Develop and/or update existing course syllabus in consultation with the UCLA Extension Portfolio Director as assigned using approved syllabus templatePrepare course materials and learning assessments in CanvasCommunicate and teach the course objectives and the specific learning outcomes to students.For the 100% online instructional mode, hold once a week online office hours via Zoom for students to optionally participate to cover course related topics and Q/AWeekly and preferably daily interaction with students' discussion posts on Canvas to promote high engagement and collaboration for an optimum learning experience.Review students' progress through the course and assign timely gradingRespond to student questions and learning needs in a timely mannerEnter final letter grades in a portal at the end of each quarter. Program: Instructor Resources: Qualifications Basic qualifications MBA or MS in Project Management and a minimum of 10 years of relevant industry experience OR, Bachelor's Degree and 15 years of relevant industry experience.Must be committed to the highest level of academic standards and integrityHighly effective oral and written communication skills, including the ability to convey conceptual and complex ideas and informationHighly effective interpersonal skillsProficiency in the use of instructional technology and online teaching tools.
