How would you contribute? This role is a contributing member of our Airlite - Omaha team, located in Omaha, NE. As a Die Cutter Operator, you are a key to continued growth and success of Airlite. This role is responsible for running the Berhalter die-cutting system to convert printed rolls into finished, accurately cut labels. They set up tooling, monitor print-to-cut registration, perform quality checks, and keep the line running efficiently with minimal waste. This role ensures smooth downstream flow from the BOBST machinery and supports overall production quality and throughput. Essential Duties: Set up Berhalter die-cutting equipment for each job, including tooling, cut files, and registration. Ensure correct die tooling is installed, aligned, and secured. Perform efficient job changeovers (tooling swap, settings changes, documentation) following quick-change best practices to minimize downtime. Perform start-up checks, including substrate alignment, vacuum systems, collection stackers, safety checks, and tooling checks. Operate the machine to meet required speeds and output targets. Handle materials by staging rolls using FIFO and loading them onto the Berhalter using a forklift or other equipment. Inspect print-to-cut registration from BOBST-printed rolls. Perform regular quality control checks, adjusting machine settings as needed and communicating quality concerns. Verify cut accuracy, including dimensions, edges, matrix removal, and waste handling. Complete all production paperwork, including counts, quality verification forms, and operator notes. Accurately record and track production metrics such as waste, scrap, downtime codes, and run speeds. Communicate effectively with the BOBST vendor representatives, Operators, Leads, and Quality personnel. Perform product packing duties as needed. Follow all required safety processes, including lockout/tagout, pinch-point, and PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) procedures. Maintain a clean, hazard-free work area and report potential safety concerns immediately. Maintain company attendance standards. Perform other duties as assigned. Do you have what it takes? Successful candidates for the role will possess the following: Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: 1-3 years' experience with die-cutting, converting, or press finishing on machines like Berhalter is preferred. Familiarity with flexographic printing, registration control, or tooling setup is preferred. Passing of the Munsell Hue Color Assessment with a score of 100 or less. Prior forklift certification or successful completion of company-provided certification after hire. Ability to successfully operate and troubleshoot die cutting presses, understanding machine mechanics and capabilities. Proficiency in handling machine components and making precise adjustments. Ability to use desktop or laptop computer and interactive machine screens. Capability to utilize problem-solving skills. Must be able to work well with others, build partnerships and support team members. Able to utilize interpersonal and communication skills in daily work. Must be self-motivated and positive. Flexible and adaptable. Display highest ethical standards. Detail oriented with meticulous observation to ensure print quality, color accuracy, and adherence to specifications. Supervisory Responsibilities: This role does not have personnel supervisory responsibilities; however, this role includes working with cross-functional teams in a matrixed organization. Physical Demands and Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; stand; walk; use hand dexterity to operate office equipment including computer keyboards; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to walk; climb or balance; and stoop and kneel. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level on the production floor is loud. Hearing protection is required. GMP's are required when on the production floor per SQF. Safety shoes/boots or safety shoe clips may be required for this role.
