Job Description

Overview Build integrations that move real clinical data-reliably and securely-across a statewide healthcare ecosystem. In this role, you will lead the design, development, and support of high-volume interfaces for a modern Health Information Exchange (HIE), using Orion Health Rhapsody, HL7 v2, FHIR R4, and related interoperability standards. You'll own end-to-end delivery: partner onboarding, routing and transformations, secure API integrations, testing, production monitoring, and continuous improvement-while mentoring junior developers/analysts and coordinating delivery across stakeholders. We are looking for an integration leader with hands-on experience in Rhapsody + HL7/FHIR and production support of interface environments. What You'll Do Lead development and maintenance of an HIE interface portfolio supporting FHIR R4, HL7 v2, and public health reporting use cases. Design, build, and maintain complex Rhapsody routes (communication points, mappers, filters, routers, and web services) for real-time message processing. Implement HL7 FHIR transformation logic (e.g., converting ADT/CCD/C-CDA inputs into FHIR JSON/XML bundles) and publish secure endpoints via Rhapsody API Gateway. Configure interface connectivity patterns including MLLP, TCP/IP, HTTP/S, SFTP, REST/SOAP integrations, and dynamic routing. Build and maintain database integrations and lookup logic (e.g., PostgreSQL / Oracle / SQL Server) to support persistence, eligibility/data quality workflows, and routing decisions. Implement and maintain secure integrations using OAuth, tokens/renewal, certificates, and other authentication mechanisms. Support partner onboarding and go-live activities, including validation, testing, defect triage, and post-go-live stabilization. Monitor production environments, troubleshoot issues (queues/health checks), perform root cause analysis, and drive preventive improvements. Produce technical design documentation, mapping specs, and runbooks; collaborate in tools like Confluence/Jira. Mentor junior developers and analysts; contribute to estimates, planning, and delivery coordination. Required Qualifications (Must Have) 7+ years of hands-on healthcare integration experience with an interface engine, strongly preferred: Orion Health Rhapsody. Strong experience with HL7 v2.x (must include ADT and ORU; additional message types such as ORM, VXU, QBP highly valued). Hands-on experience with FHIR (preferably FHIR R4) and REST-based interoperability integrations. Proficiency building transformation/business logic using JavaScript within the integration platform. Strong SQL skills and experience integrating with relational databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle, and/or SQL Server). Experience supporting production integration environments (monitoring, incident response, troubleshooting, SLAs). Excellent communication and documentation skills (technical specs, mapping documents, runbooks). Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have) Experience with CDA / CCD / C-CDA and related validations/mapping. Experience with public health reporting workflows (eCR/eLR, registries, etc.). Experience with MPI concepts and integrations. Familiarity with cloud environments and monitoring/logging (e.g., AWS/Azure, CloudWatch, Elasticsearch). Prior technical leadership experience (mentoring, code reviews, leading delivery/estimations). Tools / Technology Environment Rhapsody, HL7 v2, FHIR R4, CDA/C-CDA, JavaScript, REST/SOAP, OAuth, MLLP, SQL/PL-SQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, AWS/Azure, Linux, Elasticsearch, Jira/Confluence.
