To learn more about Swords to Plowshares, please visit our website at Job Title: Assistant Clinical Director for Residential Programs Location: War Memorial Building - 401 Van Ness Ave, San Francisco, CA Schedule: Monday-Friday 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Reporting Type: Hybrid: 4 days in person, 1 day remote Employment Type: Exempt & Full-time Salary Range: $120,000.00 - $130,000 Annually Summary: Under the direction and with the support of the Deputy Director of Clinical Programs & Supportive Services, the Assistant Clinical Director for Residential Programs is responsible for aiding in the delivery and oversight of Swords to Plowshares' Residential Programs supportive services. These programs serve veterans with disabilities experiencing and exiting homelessness. Duties of this position include supervision of staff, oversight of clinical programs, quality review, and the safety and well-being of veterans living in Swords to Plowshares properties. Programs include the following: Swords to Plowshares houses over 500 veterans across 6 housing sites. At our sites, we offer a range of services including low-barrier and low-demand stabilization housing beds, Safe Haven in addition to supportive services for veterans in permanent housing. The Transitional housing and contract program focuses on securing permanent housing while addressing substance abuse, mental health, and other barriers that could impact a veteran's ability to live independently. Supportive Services in permanent settings focus on providing clinical support and case management for veterans who have secured permanent supportive housing, emphasizing housing retention. We also operate the Veteran Support to Self-Reliance pilot program across all our permanent sites. This pilot program offers enhanced services to veterans with complex care needs and who are aging while living with a disabling condition. Responsibilities: Promote and facilitate a stigma-reduced environment that prioritizes psychological safety, confidentiality and supportive services by providing leadership, compliance oversight, and team support to foster a safe, trauma informed environment across multiple sites. Proficient in specialized technical knowledge of the discipline and related specialty areas; demonstrates knowledge of the DSM TR 5, standard of care and other related regulatory and/or quality agencies. Champion service integration and veteran centered care, creating and improving systems that support a comprehensive continuum of behavioral health, housing and substance use disorder services. Oversee clinical documentation, data integrity, and the use of electronic health record systems. Maintains compliance and risk oversight, by conducting quality assurance, employee/veteran safety, and error reduction; applies best practices by continuously improving approaches, methods and services. Oversees the intake, referral, assessments, and discharge process. Completes documentation and reports in a timely manner. Assigns caseloads. Conducts case conferences. Assist with census management to ensure balanced caseloads across multiple sites. Perform, onsite counseling services and crisis intervention to veterans, as needed. Liaison to referring clinicians, and serving as clinical resource, including coordination of treatment with other providers, especially the VA, and the liaison work that is required to accomplish this. This also involves supporting staff in their communication with VA staff. The Assistant Clinical Director for Residential Programs will also contribute to housing efforts which can include provisions of services and attending community meetings. The Assistant Clinical Director for Residential Programs will also share on-call after hours' coverage for the Safe Haven program along with providing support for the permanent supportive housing programs when supportive services emergencies arise. Internal compliance management for the various grants to include but not limited to the Veterans Administration and Department of Homelessness and Supportive Housing. Supervisory Responsibilities The Assistant Clinical Director for Residential Programs will directly supervise up to 6 staff across our housing portfolio. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the agency's policies and procedures. Responsible for assisting in recruitment, onboarding, and training of staff. Utilize a systematic approach to coaching, mentoring, performance management and training, which includes setting goals, and expectations, creating a learning environment, and providing constructive feedback. Review credit card transactions, timesheets, and time off requests for approval. Desired Qualifications:Experience: Minimum of 2 years' experience providing counseling and other services to disadvantaged or otherwise "hard to serve" clients. Minimum of 2 years' experience in multi-disciplinary treatment planning, individual and group psychotherapy, substance abuse counseling, and crisis intervention. Minimum of 2 years' experience in supervising staff. A thorough understanding of the problems faced by veterans from all eras to include a specific emphasis on homelessness, substance abuse/dependence, and post-traumatic stress and adjustment disorders. Excellent interpersonal and supervisory skills, including conflict resolution, crisis intervention, quality assurance, staff development, and performance appraisal. Effective time management skills. Analytical and organizational ability. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to use general office software such as word processing, email, and preparation of spreadsheets. Travel between sites is required (mileage reimbursed). Employees must be able to carry out the essential duties of the position within what can be considered reasonable accommodation. Ability to effectively communicate in English with staff, clients, and external partners and stakeholders. Education: Minimum of a master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, or related field. Current state of California, Board of Behavioral Sciences (MFT, LCSW, LPCC). Training in the use of DSM 5-TR in order to develop provisional diagnosis. Training and familiarity with treatment protocols in crisis, substance abuse, Anxiety disorders, PTSD, Major Depression, and Schizophrenia spectrum disorders.
