Salary: $86,445.00 - $101,129.00 Annually Location : Estes Park, CO Job Type: Full-Time Job Number: EVFRD-EA 03-2026 Department: Estes Valley Fire Protection District Opening Date: 03/03/2026 Closing Date: 3/20/2026 11:59 PM Pacific About the Position Estes Valley Fire Protection District, ColoradoExecutive Assistant to the Fire Chief The Executive Assistant to the Fire Chief is responsible for a broad range of senior-level executive, administrative, and governance support tasks within the District. This role requires handling highly confidential information, making administrative decisions, and exercising independent judgment according to established laws, policies, Fire Chief, and Board direction. The Executive Assistant works with minimal supervision and acts as the recording secretary for both the Fire Board and Pension Board, preparing for and attending meetings as required. The position interacts frequently with volunteers, staff, board members, vendors, and the public, demanding a thorough understanding of District operations, goals, programs, and policies. The Executive Assistant coordinates with human resources and financial contractors, serving as the district's primary administrative contact for Board support, human resources coordination, financial management, records handling, and regulatory compliance. Assistance may also be provided to the Administrative Specialist as necessary. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is a highly experienced administrative professional with a proven track record of supporting executive leadership, preferably in a public sector or district environment. They are discreet, competent, and adept at managing confidential matters with professionalism. The candidate should demonstrate strong technical skills, exceptional organizational abilities, and the capacity to work independently. Experience interacting with a wide range of stakeholders, including volunteers, staff, board members, vendors, and the public, is essential. Preferred qualifications include advanced knowledge of district operations, governance, human resources, and financial administration, along with experience handling payroll and records management. Minimum Qualifications Education: High School diploma or equivalent required. Associate's degree in business administration, public administration, office administration, or a related field preferred. Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered. Work Experience: Minimum of 10 years of administrative experience with public contact Ability to type at least 65 words a minute Licenses: CPR/AED within 12 months of hire.
