I'm currently hiring for FPGA Engineer Opportunity in the Grand Rapids, MI area. Job Description The FPGA Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation, verification, and integration of FPGA-based solutions for embedded and avionics systems. This role requires deep technical expertise in Xilinx devices, hardware description languages (SystemVerilog and VHDL), and hands-on debugging within complex systems. The engineer will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-reliability system performance that meets stringent industry and program requirements. Responsibilities Architect, design, and implement FPGA modules using Xilinx (Vivado) toolchains. Develop FPGA logic using SystemVerilog and VHDL, ensuring best-practice coding standards. Perform unit-level testing, simulation, verification, and hardware bring-up. Work with Xilinx UltraScale family devices and associated embedded platforms. Debug FPGA issues at both the logic and system levels, leveraging lab equipment such as logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and embedded debug tools. Participate in system integration activities with software, electrical, and systems engineering teams. Support design reviews, requirement analysis, and documentation aligned with avionics/defense development processes. Contribute to continuous improvement of FPGA development workflows and verification methodologies. Essential Skills Active DoD Secret clearance. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field. Strong experience with Xilinx FPGAs and the Vivado design suite. Proficiency in SystemVerilog for design and/or verification. Proficiency in VHDL for FPGA development. Hands-on experience with Xilinx UltraScale family hardware. Experience with unit-level testing, simulation tools, and debugging. Experience in avionics, aerospace, or other safety-critical embedded systems. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with UVM (Universal Verification Methodology). Familiarity with DO-254 or other regulated development environments. Experience with embedded software or firmware integration. Python or TCL scripting for automation and tool flows. Work Environment This position is onsite in Grand Rapids, MI. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Grand Rapids, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $95.00/hr.
