Job summary Job description/Responsibilities: Full-Time (1.0) AM Shift / Every other weekend APPROXIMATE PAY RANGE: $27.45 - $32.77 Under general supervision, the Transporter is responsible for transporting patients within the hospital in a timely manner. ESSENTIAL DUTIES Transports patients from various departments within the hospital as requested, according to the designated method, in a timely manner from various departments within the hospital. Transports patients to treatment unit using wheelchairs and gurneys, or assist them to walk. The transporter cares for the personal need and comfort of the patient. Maintains simple written records. May transport patient chart to accompany patient when required. Responsible for notifying the department concerned in the event that a patient cannot be transported or when transport must be rescheduled. Demonstrates competence in the care of pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric patients (when/if assigned to scheduling these patients) relative to determining each patient's age-related and other physical, psychosocial, and cultural needs and carrying out patient care activities. Other Duties Assists Nursing Services in providing patient care related to transportation functions. Reports any transportation equipment, requiring maintenance repair, to the Manager. Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the Manager, Charge Nurse, or Team Leader. Additional Service-Specific Requirements Diagnostic Imaging -Verifies doctor's order on outpatient requests and provides information on Radiology and Imaging procedures. -Responsible for processing paperwork/receiving requests, logging patients. -Issues new folder/follows through by distributing paperwork and folder to appropriate area. Emergency Services -Maintains appropriate ASL of supplies in the Emergency Department supply room -Basic computer skills regarding Diagnostic Imaging computer systems. Required Qualification: Education High school graduate or equivalent preferred License/Certification Current BLS required Completion of a training program in orderly/nurse aide responsibilities preferred. Proof of all license and certification is required at time of hire. Experience Minimum one-year hospital experience, preferred. Skills Demonstrates verbal ability to communicate with patients and coworkers and understand written and verbal instructions from Supervisor. Employee must demonstrate basic computer skills Additional Service Specific Physical Requirements Critical Care Service -Visual ability: Near acuity; 8 to 16, Mid-focal acuity: 16 to 3, Far visual acuity; 20 and greater. -Must utilize conversational speech for effective verbal communication. -Noise level is high in some patient care areas. Must be able to hear equipment alarms, overhead pages, and direct verbal communication. Emergency Service -Visual ability: Near acuity; 8 to 16, Mid-focal acuity: 16 to 3, Far visual acuity; 20 and greater. -Must utilize conversational speech for effective verbal communication. - Noise level is high in some patient care areas. Must be able to hear equipment alarms, overhead pages, and direct verbal communication. Hazards Will have close contact with patients and is likely to come in contact with blood and body fluids. Often exposed to infection. Will be fit tested for particulate respirator. Occasional exposure to radiation (X-Ray). Additional Service Specific Physical Requirements Critical Care Services - Works with electrical equipment. Emergency Services - Works with electrical equipment.
