Full-Time/Part-Time Full-Time DescriptionFINANCIAL AID ADVISOR - CAMPUSSUMMARY The Financial Aid Advisor (FAA) performs administrative work directly related to the administration of financial aid programs. The FAA coordinates and executes state, federal and institutional financial aid programs in an ethical, expeditious and efficient manner, to provide the greatest possible benefit to both the student and college. Duties are performed in a customer environment requiring independent judgment and decision making. RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES Administer all financial aid programs supported by Valley College and executed at the local campus level in accordance with all state and federal requirements and institutional policies and procedures. Interview all students requiring financial aid assistance, prepare financial aid packages, including refinancing. Develop new financial aid resources and act as a liaison between the school and agencies. Remain technically current in new government and company regulations and procedures by attending sponsored financial aid workshops and seminars and by participation in local financial aid associations when feasible. Apprise management of updates and changes. Perform financial aid orientations and student financial counseling. Ensure all appropriate financial aid accounting procedures including accounting procedures associated with federal funded programs, are implemented and maintained in accordance with corporate and federal requirements. Coordinate and administer collection activities for financial aid programs. Administers all reporting functions to ensure all Valley College reporting requirements are completed in a timely and accurate manner. Conduct entrance and exit interviews and practice timely default management. Assist with the development and revision of corporate financial aid policies. Special projects as assigned. Emotional Intelligence SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY This position does not have any direct supervisory responsibilities. WORK ENVIRONMENT and PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS This position operates in a professional office setting and routinely uses standard office equipment, including but not limited to computers, phones, printers, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. The employee must be able to: Sit, stand, and walk for extended periods Frequently use hands and fingers to operate office equipment Occasionally reach, bend, or lift to move items such as but not limited to files, office supplies, or equipment. Maintain visual acuity to read and prepare documents Reasonable accommodation requests will be considered per ADA guidelines. TRAVEL This position may require occasional travel to other campus locations, or off-site work-related locations or campus events. POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK This is a full-time, salaried position. The standard work week is Monday - Friday, 8am to 5pm. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required as job duties demand. REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION and PRIOR WORK EXPERIENCE A Baccalaureate degree (or higher) in Business Administration or related field is preferred. This individual needs to have good interpersonal skills and the ability to function effectively in a customer environment. A combination of related experience and education may be acceptable should the incumbent not hold a baccalaureate degree. This position requires that the incumbent maintains a high level of professionalism and confidentiality when working with students. If the incumbent has student federal loans (Title IV): The incumbent must maintain all their student federal loans in good standing (no delinquencies or defaults). Failure to do so may result in restricted access to resources essential to conducting job responsibilities and may result in disciplinary action up to termination of employment with the college.
