Position Overview: The Foreman I - Sheet Metal plays a critical leadership role on our project sites, reporting directly to the Project Superintendent. You will lead and manage a team of Sheet Metal Technicians, ensuring projects are executed with superior quality, safety, efficiency, and customer satisfaction. Working closely with company leadership, you will align team efforts with VMG Mechanical's goals to deliver profitable outcomes and maintain our reputation for excellence in mechanical systems installation. Key Responsibilities Proactively identify and resolve potential issues before they escalate into problems, fostering a solutions-oriented approach on every project. Collaborate with the Project Superintendent and/or Project Manager to review projects post-procurement of equipment and subcontractors. Conduct thorough on-site physical surveys with the Superintendent to assess conditions and provide written reports to the Project Manager as needed. Perform accurate and timely takeoffs for projects in partnership with the Superintendent. Plan, coordinate, and supervise all on-site activities, including scheduling, material control, tool/equipment rentals, and crew assignments. Track and report daily job completion percentages to keep projects on schedule. Ensure full compliance with project procedures, safety protocols, company policies, and regulatory requirements; document all incidents promptly, notify leadership, and implement corrective actions. Oversee completion and timely submission of weekly reports to the office, including safety/toolbox talks, preconstruction meetings, production updates, and any project-specific documentation. Perform regular job site inspections to verify adherence to VMG Mechanical/Modigent standards; ensure projects are fully detailed, prepared for startup, and coordinate as needed with contractors, engineers, subcontractors, and owners during commissioning. Coordinate with the shop team for production scheduling, fabrication, and on-time deliveries. Lead by example to boost team efficiency, uphold the highest safety standards, and promote a collaborative, high-performance work environment. Qualifications & Requirements 4+ years of hands-on experience in sheet metal/HVAC installation and leadership (journeyman status preferred; ability to obtain relevant licensing/certification a plus). Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and prepare accurate materials lists. Proven track record in mechanical construction, preferably with experience in government, institutional, or commercial facilities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective team leadership and stakeholder coordination. Self-motivated, punctual, and highly organized with strong multitasking and follow-through abilities (internal and external). Professional demeanor in appearance, speech, and conduct. Commitment to safety as a top priority in a fast-paced, safety-sensitive environment. Additional Preferred Skills Familiarity with design-build, preconstruction, and project management processes in HVAC/plumbing/mechanical contracting. Experience working in regulated or complex environments (e.g., education, healthcare, municipal projects).
