This position provides lead direction to staff in the tutoring center, backup support for tutoring for math courses across the curriculum, skills development for students and staff, and provides operational support in the Academic Success Center. Essential Functions 70% - Provides lead direction for mathematics tutors in a face-to-face and online environment; assists in the ongoing learning for mathematics tutors and students, including training of tutors in the content area of mathematics.; utilizes appropriate software and technology in order to execute tutoring responsibilities (MS Office programs, Canvas, TutorTrac, Matlab, Maple, and/or equivalent); develops and delivers resource materials, instructional aids, and workshops to students suitable for all levels of mathematical knowledge. 15% - Directs the work of student learning facilitators; mentors and coaches student learning facilitators on tutoring best practices; collaborates with faculty to ensure adequate reinforcement of classroom instruction across the curriculum. 15% - Contributes to the development and implementation of tutoring initiatives and other learning support activities; assists in the maintenance of department records, tracking platforms, small and large group presentations about the Center services; maintains close relationships with academic divisions and service departments, and collaborates with faculty; performs other duties as assigned commensurate to grade level of position. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in education, or a directly related field, and one (1) year of full-time equivalent experience in researching information, gathering data, performing preliminary analysis, and preparing reports OR Associate's degree from a regionally accredited institution in education, or a directly related field, and three (3) years of full-time equivalent experience in researching information, gathering data, performing preliminary analysis, and preparing reports An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience, as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered. Desired Qualifications 1. Bachelor's degree in mathematics, Mathematics Education, or related field (secondary, developmental, and/or college level) OR Bachelor's degree with a strong emphasis in mathematics from an accredited institution. 2. Two (2) years of experience tutoring all levels of mathematics for a diverse population of students in a high school, college, or university Learning Center that promotes independent learning. 3. Two (2) or more years of experience working in a comprehensive learning center in an institution of higher education or similar setting. 4. Experience designing and conducting workshops or making large group presentations on academic topics 5. Two (2) or more years of experience being a team lead or directing the work of others, including designing and implementing training materials. 6. Experience with MS Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Canvas, LMS, TutorTrac, including creating, developing, and maintaining data reports (student usage reports), video tutorials, and presentations as it applies to the position 7. One year of full-time, relevant MCCCD experience within the previous two years. Special Working Conditions May be required to view a computer monitor for a prolonged period of time.
