Our department is a combination of medical/surgical and PCU. Our team cares for a variety of adult patients. Patient diagnosis includes but are not limited to Congestive Heart Failure, Chest Pain rule out ME, Abd pain, Diverticulitis, Pancreatitis, Pneumonia, post-op surgeries, Wounds, FLU, COVID, Weakness, Falls at Home. We have a 24-bed unit to care for patients with an average daily census of 10-12. We have a total of 4 PCU beds within the unit along with swing bed patients. We also have support staff that include hospitalists for our day shift team and nocturnist for our night shift team. Nursing skills gained: Great unit to start out on as a Graduate Nurse or new to practice nurse. You will learn: Organizational Skills Admission and Discharges Assessment Skills IV, PICC, Port Skills Wound Care Telemetry Patients Lab Draws Unit Successes/Designations/National recognition: Decrease in falls every year. Poster presentation at the International 2024 Magnet and Pathway Conference Pathway Designation Low Turn Over Rates Employee Longevity Great Patient Experience Scores Leading the System for Inpatient Units Team Member Experience Statically Significant Improvement over the year Professional Practice Committee High percentage rate for Good Catch Event Reporting Unit Culture Highlights: Family Oriented Teamwork Team Member Experience Cross Trained Qualifications: Requires 1 year RN experience. Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred. Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license. Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program. Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA. Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies. Why Join IU Health?
