Electricity Faculty (F0007) Brightpoint Community College is a two-year public institution of higher education and is the third largest of Virginia’s 23 community colleges. The college is located within the Greater Richmond metropolitan area. It serves students and the community at its two campuses, in Chester and Midlothian; online; and in locations throughout its service area. This nine-month, full-time faculty position carries a teaching load equivalent to 15 credit hours per semester (fall and spring), encompassing a variety of courses delivered in face-to-face, hybrid, and online formats (synchronous and asynchronous). Teaching assignments may include a combination of online, daytime, and evening classes at either campus (Midlothian or Chester). The faculty member will actively contribute to course and program development, assessment initiatives, student advising, and service on division and college committees. Faculty are also expected to collaborate with local employers and government partners to ensure students develop the skills and competencies necessary to successfully enter the workforce. The successful candidate will be expected to: Deliver classroom, laboratory, and hands-on instruction in electrical theory, wiring methods, motor controls, industrial electricity, and related coursework. Develop and maintain course syllabi, instructional materials, lab activities, and assessments aligned with industry standards and program learning outcomes. Integrate safety standards, National Electrical Code fundamentals, and industry best practices into all instruction. Evaluate student learning through diverse assessment methods, maintain accurate academic records, and contribute to program-level assessment and continuous improvement efforts. Promote student success through scheduled office hours, academic advising, career pathway guidance, and retention initiatives. Maintain laboratory equipment, instructional materials, inventory control systems, and safety compliance to ensure a safe and effective learning environment. Collaborate with division faculty to advance curriculum development, support accreditation requirements, and enhance program quality. Establish and sustain partnerships with regional employers to ensure curriculum alignment, facilitate internships and apprenticeships, and support graduate job placement. Assist with student recruitment and outreach initiatives for the electrical program. Participate in institutional service activities, including committee work and community engagement. Prepare students for relevant industry certifications and licensure examinations consistent with program outcomes. Engage in ongoing professional development to remain current in electrical technologies, codes, and instructional best practices. KSA’s/Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s or Associate Degree in field. Minimum of five years of documented industry experience in electrical systems, industrial maintenance, machining, or a closely related technical field. Demonstrated knowledge of electrical safety standards, industry codes, and best practices. Demonstrated ability to teach theoretical concepts and applied laboratory skills in a hands-on instructional environment. Demonstrated proficiency in the use of instructional technologies to support face to face, hybrid, and online learning. Strong interpersonal, analytical, and written and oral communication skills. Commitment to the community college mission, serving diverse student populations, and fostering an inclusive learning environment Willingness to adopt and teach emerging technologies aligned with industry trends. Prior teaching or training experience at the postsecondary, apprenticeship, or workforce development level. Successful completion of a criminal background check.
