Planning and Sourcing Specialist

Job Summary Our western suburban manufacturing firm client has an immediate need for a Planning and Sourcing Specialist. This is a key role keeping the production floor moving smoothly. You will make sure materials are always available by planning internal work center supplies and outsourcing material and service at outside vendors maintaining quality, cost, inventory and delivery goals. Must have machine shop planning experience. Duties Manage procurement activities including purchasing, supplier selection, and contract negotiations to secure quality materials at optimal pricing. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to coordinate production planning, logistics, and materials management. Manage supplier relationships through performance monitoring, supplier management programs, and contract management practices. Support manufacturing operations by providing timely procurement solutions that meet quality standards and delivery schedules. Analyze pricing trends and develop strategies for cost reduction without compromising quality or service levels. Facilitate continuous improvement initiatives in procurement processes, including root cause analysis for supply disruptions or quality issues. MUST BE ELIGIBLE TO WORK IN THE US PERMANENTLY MUST BE A CURRENT RESIDENT OF THE TWIN CITIES METRO AREA Qualifications Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field; advanced certifications preferred. 4+ years of experience in production scheduling and procurement in a precision machining environment Knowledge/experience in supply/demand planning and material sourcing modules in ERP systems Ability to identify and lead process improvements within the supply chain and planning process. Strong negotiation and planning skills Understanding of turning, milling and grinding processes Excellent communication skills and ability to work with a wide range of individuals.
