Material Handler The Material Handler will work in partnership with the Mill Operator to efficiently move materials using a sit-down forklift. This position requires loading materials off the production line and packing them into boxes while ensuring product specifications are met. Attention to detail is essential as the handler will weigh and measure products using calipers and input data into the computer system. The role involves maintaining cleanliness and organization in the unloading area, coordinating material flow with production and warehouse teams, and promptly reporting any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns. Responsibilities: Partner with the Mill Operator to move materials using a sit-down forklift. Load materials coming off the production line and pack them into boxes. Weigh products to ensure they meet specifications. Measure products using calipers to ensure they meet specifications. Perform data entry to input weight and measurements into the computer system. Maintain cleanliness and organization in the unloading area to prevent contamination and hazards. Communicate with production and warehouse teams to coordinate material flow. Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns immediately. Read instructions on each production order to ensure adherence to customer requirements and company quality policy. Clean tools and maintain tool boards. Practice safe work habits and report unsafe conditions or actions to the supervisor. Keep work station and surrounding area clean and organized. Troubleshoot problems with products. Ensure materials are weighed and packaged according to specification. Prepare and organize boxes or baskets for both lines. Essential Skills: Experience as a production worker with skills in weighing, changeover, machine operation, and tool usage. Ability to operate a sit-down forklift. Proficiency in reading and understanding production orders. Strong communication skills for coordinating with teams. Capability to troubleshoot product issues. Additional Skills & Qualifications: Standing in a stationary position for the entirety of the shift is required. Experience in general labor, hand tool usage, tape measure, power tool operation, inspection, labeling, and chemical mixing. Why Work Here? Job Type & Location: This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Statesville, NC. Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.
