The Labor Relations Specialist will assist the Manager of Labor Relations by providing effective and efficient support in organizational maintenance of the labor-management relations function of the Public Health Trust (PHT). Responsibilities include: Providing expertise on the interpretation of hospital policies and procedures for compliance with labor contracts. Assisting management in administration of labor contracts. Examining supervisory practices and hospital policies and procedures for compliance with labor contracts. Training supervisors regarding their role in counseling, disciplinary actions and performance evaluation and classifications appeals. Advising supervisors on their role when interacting with employee representatives. Monitoring the documentation and process of disciplinary actions to assure completeness and consistency with hospital policy and appropriateness of action in relation to the employee's offense. Representing the PHT cases at arbitration/employee appeal hearings and at hearings of governmental agencies. Assisting in the coordination of salary and benefit surveys for negotiation purposes and making recommendations to management and the negotiating team. Resolving grievance cases filed by bargaining units as well as grievance cases filed by non-bargaining unit employees. Coordinating performance evaluation appeal hearings by forming tri-ethnic panels. Assisting in other areas of the Human Resources Division as required to complete special projects and ensure appropriate service to customers. Performing all other related job duties as assigned. Generally requires 3 to 5 years of related experience. Bachelor's degree in related field is required. Active license or certification is required as needed, based on the job or specialty.
