We are currently looking for a Senior Commercial Property Claims Handler to complete our dedicated team! This role is open to candidates nationwide, particularly those located in Schaumburg, IL; Atlanta, GA; Parsippany, NJ; New York, NY; Gold River, CA; or Addison, TX. As a key member of our team, you will: Maintain detailed documentation by accurately capturing and updating claims data to reflect best practices for personal and commercial line claims. Assess liability by gathering and analyzing pertinent information, applying relevant laws, and understanding basic principles of negligence. Verify policy coverage by determining eligibility and ensuring the loss is covered under the applicable insurance policy. Drive timely claims resolutions by developing effective case strategies and evaluations, and by appropriately escalating issues as needed. Set and adjust reserves timely throughout the claims cycle while estimating and validating claim values. Evaluate damages by calculating legally permissible compensation amounts within established guidelines. Negotiate settlements by developing strategies and using available tools within your authority limits. Meet and maintain quality standards by adhering to best practices in your claims handling. Deliver exceptional customer service by communicating proactively, addressing inquiries, and potential involvement in customer marketing efforts. Manage expenses effectively by collaborating with approved vendors and contractors, with necessary approvals when deviations are required. Ensure compliance with all legal regulations, internal controls, and standards. Identify potential cases for subrogation and fraud, and refer them to the appropriate teams. Contribute to the company’s growth by providing valuable risk insights and trends to your business unit or clients. Safeguard Zurich's reputation by maintaining confidentiality regarding all claims information. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree plus 6+ years of experience in Claims and/or Litigation Management, or equivalent qualifications such as a Juris Doctor with 2+ years of relevant experience. Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 6+ years of experience in Claims and/or Litigation Management. Completion of the Zurich Claims Training Program alongside 6+ years in Claims and/or Litigation Management. High School Diploma or equivalent plus 8+ years of experience. Must obtain and maintain required adjuster license(s). Proficient in Microsoft Office. Knowledgeable about insurance regulations, markets, and products. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in handling commercial property claims. Familiarity with international claims management. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Exceptional analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities. Excellent time management, prioritization, and multitasking skills. Ability to collaborate well in team settings and foster cross-functional relationships. Adept at understanding complex financial and/or actuarial concepts. Capability to evaluate the scope and implications of moderately complex claims. Understanding of reserving processes for liabilities and expenses. Ability to craft and implement negotiation strategies for optimal resolution. Skill in recognizing nuances in customer and stakeholder interactions. Competence in presenting necessary information for effective claim resolution. Your compensation at Zurich is based on your role, location, skills, and experience. The expected salary range for this position is between $75,800.00 and $124,100.00, with an opportunity for a short-term incentive bonus of 15%.
