Position Details: Job reports to warehouse in Cedar Rapids, Iowa Starting at $30.00 per hour base pay rate Early morning start Monday through Friday. Our drivers ensure that products arrive at their destination on time and in good condition, serving as the face of our company and building lasting relationships with customers. The CDL-A Driver is responsible for: Driving a tractor trailer or straight truck for local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight routes to deliver food and related products safely and timely following DOT regulations. Primary Responsibilities: Engaging with customers, vendors, and co-workers professionally, ensuring accurate and timely responses to queries. Collaborating as a team member within the department and organization. Conducting all required safety checks (i.e., pre/post trip) and inspecting the vehicle to meet safety standards. Reporting safety issues and required repairs. Adhering to all DOT regulations and following company safe driving policies. Inspecting trailers for properly loaded and secured freight. Performing count checks and reviewing customer invoices for loaded products. Completing all paperwork associated with freight accurately and legibly. Connecting the tractor to the loading dock and attaching preloaded trailers as necessary. Driving to and delivering customer orders per the predetermined schedule. Unloading products and transporting them into designated storage areas. Conducting damage control checks on items, and collaborating with supervisors about order removals based on company policy. Verifying deliveries with customers and obtaining necessary signatures. Collecting payments where required and securing the trailer doors. Ensuring that the tractor, trailer, and freight are always secured. Handling customer returns and damaged goods, completing necessary paperwork. Maintaining records of service hours in compliance with DOT and company regulations. Performing housekeeping duties in the vehicle and loading dock area. Securing all equipment and completing paperwork at the end of shifts. Executing additional related duties as assigned. Qualifications: High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent 12+ months of commercial driving experience Valid CDL-A Must be 21 years of age or older Meet all state licensing and certification requirements (where applicable) Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past 3 years Pass post-offer drug test and criminal background check Pass a road test Obtain or have a valid current DOT Health Card Able to lift and utilize equipment to move product cases of varying sizes and weights, generally ranging from 10-35 pounds and up to 60-90 pounds Company Description: Performance Foodservice is a broadline distributor maintaining unique relationships with local customers, including independent restaurants, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries.
