Position Overview: We are on the lookout for a dynamic Automation Control Engineer who will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing automation control systems that enhance industrial processes and optimize warehouse distribution equipment. Your expertise will significantly contribute to improving the efficiency and reliability of various systems including conveyors, sortation systems, scanners, cameras, print-and-apply systems, and SCADA devices. Adherence to safety protocols and established procedures is paramount in this role. Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities Include: Act as the technical authority on automation control systems and provide mentorship to apprentices to meet safety and technical standards. Design, implement, and optimize control systems and software; maintain and troubleshoot equipment including PLC/PC controllers and industrial networks. Follow strict documentation and Automation Change Management procedures. Collaborate with operations, engineering, and support teams to optimize Material Handling Equipment (MHE) systems and execute projects effectively. Monitor MHE metrics, investigate performance issues, and lead troubleshooting initiatives both onsite and remotely. Conduct root cause analysis, implement process enhancements, and spearhead continuous improvement initiatives for operational performance and cost efficiency. Communicate technical challenges, timelines, and operational solutions to leadership and stakeholders. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent knowledge base in a relevant field. Demonstrated ability to lead, train, and mentor fellow automation engineers. Experience with CMMS, troubleshooting, and liaising with various stakeholders on complex maintenance tasks. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to interpret and convey policy information. A strong problem-solving mentality, flexibility, and a dedication to continuous improvement. Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required. Preferred Qualifications: At least 2 years of experience with PLC programming, troubleshooting, HMI/control network design, SCADA systems, and KPIs. Practical knowledge of motor controls (VFDs, DC drives, starters) and industrial electrical systems (480V 3-phase, 120VAC, 24VDC). Proficiency in RSLogix5000 Studio, FT View, and similar controls software, along with experience in controls design and systems integration. Ability to read, modify, and create mechanical and electrical schematics. Field service engineering experience, especially in conveyors, sortation, ASRS, and industrial robotics.
