We are searching for a dynamic and experienced Senior Lead AI Platform Engineer to guide the strategic development of our engineering platforms. This pivotal role merges technical expertise with significant cross-functional leadership duties. As the Senior Lead Platform Engineer, you will: Architect and design enterprise platform services for distributed healthcare applications and advanced AI systems, setting technical standards that encourage consistency, reusability, and operational success across teams. Implement best practices for infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, Pulumi), CI/CD automation with testing and deployment pipelines, and secure cloud-native deployments that maintain compliance with healthcare regulations. Lead modernization initiatives, including large-scale infrastructure upgrades and adoption of next-generation cloud services, continuously refining development and deployment workflows. Establish reliability and observability standards across platform services, including defining service level objectives (SLOs) and implementing monitoring and alerting strategies. Collaborate with product teams, AI engineering teams, and security architects to maintain standards for secure and compliant application development. Draft comprehensive design documents, architecture decision records, and technical specifications that outline system requirements and serve as the foundation for architectural reviews. Mentor engineers at various levels through code reviews and discussions, fostering platform standards and a culture of technical excellence. Ensure adherence to security best practices and healthcare compliance requirements through ongoing security assessments and automated compliance checks. To make a positive impact, we require the following: Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience. 7+ years in platform engineering or distributed systems architecture with a proven track record. Experience leading technical initiatives across multiple teams with ownership from design to deployment and optimization. Expertise in cloud-native architecture, infrastructure automation, and container orchestration. Comprehensive experience establishing engineering standards and robust CI/CD frameworks. Solid background in scalable system design and performance engineering techniques. Preferred Qualifications Experience influencing technical direction and building consensus among engineering stakeholders. Excellent communication skills to articulate technical concepts to diverse audiences. Additional Information This position requires a hybrid work style and must be performed at one of our designated IT hub locations: New York City; Louisville, KY; Tampa, FL; Dallas, TX; Boston, MA; or Washington, D.C. To support effective home or hybrid work, employees must have internet speeds of at least 25 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload. Employees in California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota will receive a bi-weekly payment for internet expenses. Humana will provide necessary telephone equipment for this position. Scheduled Weekly Hours 40 Compensation Range $170,800 - $234,800 per year. This role is eligible for a bonus incentive plan based on performance.
