Joining our team will equip you with valuable expertise in various fields, including NESC, Structural Pole Modeling, Electrical Power Calculations, GIS design training, Field Data Collection, and Client Design Standards. Your most significant contributions are just ahead! Travel: This position allows for remote work; however, candidates must be located within a commutable distance of Allentown, PA, as in-person meetings and assignments throughout Pennsylvania may be necessary. As a Distribution Engineer, you will: Conduct design engineering for Leidos' electric utility customers. Develop work packages for overhead (OH), underground (UG), urban residential developments (URD), and Make Ready projects using GIS and WMS systems, including EFD, AUD, Smallworld, ArcGIS, Infor, EAM, STORMS, and Maximo. Manage the scope, schedule, and budget of assigned projects. Perform planning tasks and maintain customer follow-up. Analyze work scopes and adhere to schedules while advocating for client priorities. Initiate workflows that enhance efficiency and maintain high-quality standards in client deliverables. Coordinate conflicting utility requirements and develop extensive design packages for complex projects in urban settings. Be prepared for both field and office work; you may need to visit sites to collect essential data for project development. What Sets You Apart: A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience either with an electric utility or a utility consulting firm focused on electric distribution design engineering. A Bachelor of Science in an Engineering discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial) from an ABET accredited institution; additional experience or certifications may be considered in place of a degree. Proficiency with the National Electric Safety Code (NESC). Experience with structural analysis and various calculations related to electrical distribution. Reliable transportation for anticipated local or regional travel (reimbursed at IRS-approved rates). Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in cost estimation, BOM development, and CIAC calculations. Familiarity with design tools such as Pole Foreman, Pull Planner, and Katapult. Knowledge of job estimating software and work management systems. Proficiency in CAD or MicroStation for electrical distribution design. Experience in Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) for design projects. Strong organizational and project management abilities. This range is a guideline and actual compensation will depend on job responsibilities, education, and experience.
