Job Summary The Structural Concrete Cost Estimator plays a vital role in preparing precise and competitive cost estimates for a variety of structural concrete projects, such as foundations, slabs, elevated decks, shear walls, columns, and related systems. By meticulously analyzing plans, specifications, and contracts, this position supports both preconstruction and project teams in crafting detailed quantity takeoffs, pricing, and proposals for commercial, industrial, and institutional ventures. Key Responsibilities Conduct thorough quantity takeoffs for structural concrete scopes, including footings, grade beams, slabs-on-grade, elevated slabs, columns, walls, ramps, and structural decks. Review drawings, specifications, bid documents, and addenda to ensure scope completeness and feasibility. Create accurate cost estimates for concrete, reinforcing steel, embeds, formwork, shoring, labor, equipment, and subcontracted services. Source pricing from concrete suppliers, rebar fabricators, and specialty subcontractors. Identify risks, scope gaps, value engineering opportunities, and potential cost-saving alternatives. Prepare bid summaries, clarifications, and scope letters for management's review. Collaborate effectively with project managers, superintendents, engineers, and preconstruction teams. Maintain estimating databases and track historical cost data for future reference. Assist in post-bid reviews, buyout discussions, and handoff meetings once projects are awarded. Qualifications 3-10+ years of estimating experience specifically in structural concrete. Strong understanding of structural drawings, rebar detailing, and concrete placement techniques. Experience estimating commercial, industrial, multifamily, or infrastructure concrete projects. Proficiency in estimating software, including Bluebeam, PlanSwift, OST, Sage, or similar tools. Exceptional Excel skills with the capacity to analyze costs and productivity metrics. Knowledge of local market prices, building codes, and industry standards. Outstanding organizational, analytical, and time-management abilities. Preferred Skills Experience in preconstruction or as a self-performing concrete contractor. Familiarity with post-tension systems, tilt-up, cast-in-place, or precast concrete is a plus. Able to manage multiple bids under tight deadlines effectively. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Education Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience in structural concrete construction and estimating. Work Environment Primarily office-based with collaboration across estimating and project teams. Occasional site visits for verification and project understanding.
