Join our dynamic Actuarial and Financial Consulting teams at Mercer as a Senior Health Actuarial Consultant. This hybrid role requires a commitment to be in the office at least 3 days a week and can be fulfilled from any of our office locations across the United States. As a Senior Health Actuarial Consultant, you will take the lead on client projects that shape employers' health benefits strategies. Your expertise will guide financial projections, optimize plan designs, and manage renewal negotiations while acting as the primary financial contact for our clients. Your responsibilities will include: Leading client engagements while overseeing service delivery, strategy, financial evaluations, plan design, renewals, business placement, and benchmarking regarding health and welfare insurance underwriting. Reviewing analyses performed by junior staff to ensure actuarial accuracy and model integrity, while fostering their professional growth. Conducting and reviewing complex analyses and cost projections using tools such as Excel, SAS, and other software, potentially specializing in healthcare insurance areas. Drafting and vetting client reports and presentations that summarize findings, recommend strategies, and propose solutions or plan designs. Managing day-to-day client interactions by resolving project-related queries and mentoring junior team members in client management. Assisting in business development efforts by identifying growth opportunities and supporting proposal responses. Contributing to the enhancement of intellectual capital and expanding your knowledge of health insurance actuarial services and products. What We Require: BA/BS degree in actuarial science, math, statistics, finance, economics, or a related field. At least 8 years of experience in an actuarial role, particularly in health and benefits consulting. Progress toward obtaining your ASA designation. Experience in client-facing roles. Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. What Sets You Apart: Experience in health benefits actuarial consulting. The base salary for this role ranges from $117,000 to $234,500, influenced by your experience, skills, training, location, and education. Additionally, this role may qualify for performance-based incentives.
