ELA Academic Support Tutor for Grades 3-8 Are you eager to inspire young minds and help them thrive academically? The Opportunity: SmartStart Education is searching for dedicated ELA Tutors to work with small groups of elementary and middle school students-specifically those in 3rd through 8th grades-who are facing challenges in mastering essential ELA skills. You will lead small groups of 1-4 students, providing tailored support that fosters their learning and confidence. As a tutor, you will work at a high school in Bronx, NY, engaging students in either push-in or pull-out settings based on their needs. Sessions will occur after school, Monday through Friday, from 1:20 PM to 6:00 PM. You will also be responsible for taking daily attendance and tracking student progress using a mobile device. Position Timeline: This tutoring opportunity begins ASAP and will continue until June 18, 2026. We encourage you to schedule your interviews promptly to ensure your chances of securing this position! Salary Range: $136.23 to $149.85 per day. Qualifications: If you are enthusiastic about this position and feel you meet the following criteria, we would love to hear from you: A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in any field is required-please note that applications from those with anticipated graduation dates will not be considered. At least one year of teaching or tutoring experience in a school or educational setting. A deep understanding of the challenges faced by urban students, including issues of racial, socio-economic, and cultural disparity. Proficiency in elementary and middle school ELA concepts and skills. A strong passion and commitment to helping students succeed academically. Excellent punctuality and reliability in adhering to schedules. Strong communication skills for effective interaction with students and colleagues. Able to commute to the designated location.
