Civil Construction Engineer

Job Description Civil Construction Engineer A reputable heavy civil contractor is looking for a Civil Construction Engineer to enhance in-house project design, temporary works engineering, and field implementation. Collaborate with the Construction Design Engineer (CDE) to create working drawings, engineering plans, and supporting documents for various complex civil and structural projects. Key Responsibilities Assist in designing hoisting/lifting plans, spreader beam layouts, formwork systems, temporary structures, posted formwork (including slab bridges), earth support systems, and demolition plans. Contribute to the development of pumping and dewatering plans, trench box specifications, and other engineering solutions as needed. Work alongside estimating teams during bid phases to create conceptual designs that meet project criteria. Support the safety department with engineering-related needs and help maintain accurate inventory of sheeting, shoring, lumber, forms, and hardware. Maintain design records for all lifting beams and devices; issue purchase orders for engineering materials. Conduct regular site visits to ensure adherence to designs and collaborate with carpenters and superintendents for practical, field-friendly solutions. Archive project photos, keep organized engineering files, assist in invoice coding, and participate in internal planning meetings. Engage in task force groups, professional organizations (ACI, ASCE, OCA), and winter training programs. Work towards obtaining Professional Engineer licensure. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field. Registered Professional Engineer or Graduate Engineer from an ABET-accredited program working toward EI certification. Prior experience as a Project Engineer; heavy civil construction experience preferred. Skills & Competencies Adept at completing project-related design tasks with accuracy and efficiency. Independent decision-maker with integrity and strong analytical skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a keen attention to detail. Proficient in Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, and Viewpoint. Self-motivated, proactive, and focused on solutions. Able to learn and apply engineering design software.
