Skills in interpreting dysrhythmias, obtaining 12 lead EKGs, and maintaining IV access are essential. Nurses will manage emergency medications and apply splints as necessary. Additional responsibilities include handling abdominal pain, asthma, burns, mental/behavioral health conditions, and drug overdoses. Isolation precautions and triage are part of the daily tasks.
