Description The Security and Loss Prevention Specialist is a pivotal leadership role within the Amazon Security and Loss Prevention team, responsible for delivering comprehensive security services across various operational business units. This position reports directly to the SLP Cluster Manager. Key Responsibilities Identify vulnerabilities and conduct thorough root cause analysis, utilizing data to outline effective mitigating actions while ensuring adherence to legal and ethical standards. Monitor and analyze systems and tools that provide data indicating opportunities for improvement and report outcomes accordingly. Manage confidential investigations and prepare timely reports on incidents related to theft, fraud, workplace violence, or other critical events. Drive process enhancements through continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency. Act as the department's liaison and subject matter expert in security and crisis management, keeping site leadership updated on key issues, strategies, and performance metrics. Develop and implement security best practices while collaborating with internal partners to assess current and future security needs, processes, and initiatives. Be prepared for domestic travel up to 50% when necessary. Lift up to 49 pounds frequently and engage in various physical activities including pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, and reaching; stand or walk for up to 12 hours during shifts; work in environments with varying noise levels, temperatures, and conditions (including outside loading areas); and navigate stairs as needed. This position covers 24/7 operations and may require working on all shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays. A Day in the Life In your role as a Security and Loss Prevention Specialist, you will be part of a dedicated team delivering security services to business customers across multiple units in a defined geographical area. You will conduct regular physical security audits and investigate policy violations, security incidents, and loss events. Through monitoring systems, analyzing data reports, and conducting interviews, your findings will help identify vulnerabilities and drive effective measures. You will be instrumental in maintaining our sites' physical integrity by auditing systems and partnering with subject matter experts and external suppliers to ensure their functionality. Furthermore, you will identify initiatives to improve our physical security infrastructure and directly contribute to budgeting for security services. Daily interactions with external security service providers will ensure the delivery of high-quality security services and a positive customer experience. Your work will often involve collaborating with stakeholders across all levels of the organization to advance multiple high-impact projects and deliver measurable outcomes. Additionally, you will manage the implementation of loss prevention education and awareness programs throughout the team. About the Team Our Worldwide Operations Security team is the backbone of field Loss Prevention, dedicated to supporting Amazon's operations, affiliate, and retail businesses by creating a prepared and secure work environment. This is achieved through global security centers of excellence staffed by experts in asset protection, developing policies, training staff, employing technology to reduce complexity, and ensuring compliance through ongoing audits. Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent, or at least 4 years of professional or military experience. A minimum of 2 years of experience in security services, loss prevention, asset protection, investigations, law enforcement, or 2+ years of service with Amazon as a blue badge employee. Preferred Qualifications Experience implementing metric-based strategies with a focus on continuous improvement. Background in maintaining and implementing physical security systems and coordinating work with security vendors. Operational experience in risk management, audits, data analytics, inventory control, quality assurance, or supply chain services. Experience in investigative interviewing and possession of relevant certifications (e.g., Wicklander and Zulawski, Loss Prevention Qualified, Certified Protection Professional). Experience in workplace incident mitigation or de-escalation and business continuity planning. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly in Excel for data analysis and graphic development. The salary range for this position is as follows: USA, KS, Kansas City - $49,500.00 - $86,700.00 annually. This package includes sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be dependent on factors such as experience, qualifications, and location.
