Salary Range: $94,000.00 - $156,800.00 This pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation the position offers, and final compensation can vary within the range depending on work location, job experience, skills, and relevant educational attainment and/or training. Position: Senior Payroll Financial Analyst Location: Lake Forest, San Leandro and Houston, TX (Hybrid) Your Role We are looking for an organized and detail-oriented Senior Payroll Financial Analyst to join our finance team. In this pivotal role, you will manage payroll operations, prepare and record journal entries, and oversee payroll-related accruals to ensure accurate financial reporting. Your responsibilities will include ensuring compliance with company policies, internal financial controls, and regulatory requirements, while providing analytical support for payroll accounting tasks. You will work closely with internal stakeholders and external payroll and benefits vendors to facilitate accurate payroll execution, resolve discrepancies, and implement best practices. Additionally, you will support month-end and year-end close processes, contribute to audit readiness, and engage in process improvement initiatives across payroll and accounting functions. The ideal candidate will possess deep knowledge of payroll processes and a solid foundation in accounting principles. Proactive problem-solving skills, excellent analytical capabilities, and clear communication across teams are essential for success in this position. Key Responsibilities Payroll Operations (40%) Review and validate payroll reports for accuracy and compliance with policies and regulations. Collaborate with HR, Finance, and external providers to resolve payroll discrepancies. Process payroll transactions including off-cycle adjustments and final settlements. Conduct monthly reconciliations of payroll-related general ledger accounts. Ensure data integrity by maintaining accurate payroll information. Prepare payroll documentation for audits as required. Journal Entries & Accruals (40%) Prepare and record payroll-related journal entries timely and accurately. Verify that payroll expenses are correctly allocated across cost centers. Manage payroll-related accrual schedules and ensure compliance with accounting standards. Collaborate with accounting teams for accurate financial statement reporting. Support month-end and year-end financial closing processes. Work with ERP systems to ensure accurate data integration. Compliance and Controls (10%) Maintain compliance with internal financial controls and labor laws. Keep process documentation and audit trails current for payroll transactions. Assist in planning and conducting payroll audits, addressing any findings. Identify and mitigate risks within payroll operations. Other Duties (10%) Generate payroll-related reports for Finance, HR, and leadership. Identify opportunities for process improvements in payroll and reporting. Support payroll system upgrades and testing. Contribute to special projects related to payroll and employee benefits. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 5-10 years of experience in payroll accounting or accounting with payroll responsibilities. Experience with multi-state payroll is preferred. Strong knowledge of payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Workday). Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems. Advanced Excel skills required. Strong analytical and numerical abilities with attention to detail. Excellent communication skills and team collaboration. Integrity and discretion in handling confidential information.
