About the Team: The Identity Verification (IDV) team, located within Platform PG, oversees Coinbase's centralized identity verification platform. We are dedicated to delivering the most reliable identity verification processes in a secure, scalable, and developer-friendly manner, which is crucial for compliance (KYC/AML) and security (ensuring legitimate account access). Key Responsibilities: Lead the strategy, roadmap, and execution for the comprehensive Identity Verification platform. Drive enhancements that empower customer journey (CUJ) owners to self-manage IDV requirements, decision rules, and vendor selections. Manage partnerships with vendors and optimize workflows to enhance success rates, reduce fraud, and improve cost efficiency. Initiate projects aimed at addressing synthetic fraud and AI-generated identity challenges through innovative detection features, challenges, and electronic ID integrations. Develop and deliver modular IDV components (document collection, liveness detection, face matching, motion detection) that operate independently for different CUJs. Collaborate closely with Engineering, Design, Risk, Compliance, and Customer Experience teams to provide outstanding IDV experiences. Establish and track key performance metrics such as IDV success rates, fraud rates, processing times, and customer contact rates. Create and deploy developer-friendly APIs, SDKs, testing tools, and observability features to facilitate integration for product teams. Qualifications: 7+ years of experience in product management, particularly in Identity, Verification, Trust & Safety, or related domains. A proven track record of building and scaling platform products with self-service capabilities, APIs, and SDKs. Strong technical background enabling effective collaboration with engineering teams on complex backend and vendor integration systems. Experience in vendor management, including performance assessments, contract negotiations, and multi-vendor optimization strategies. Proven ability to balance priorities related to fraud prevention, user experience, and cost management. Excellent analytical skills with experience in defining and monitoring success metrics. Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with a demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional teams. Experience in a regulated environment, such as fintech, payments, or similar sectors. Preferred Qualifications: Background in document verification, biometrics, liveness detection, or electronic identification technologies. Experience with machine learning-driven fraud detection or challenges related to synthetic identity detection. Familiarity with the crypto, blockchain, or fintech sectors. Experience in international market expansion and navigating geo-specific compliance regulations.
