Job Summary As an Energetics Specialist, you will play a crucial role in collaborating with solution architects and systems designers to conduct live-fire evaluations of energetic solutions. This role is vital for assessing effectiveness (penetration, fragmentation, incendiary effects, etc.) and aids in rapid evaluation of materials, components, or payloads. Your expertise will assist in strategic decision-making processes, optimizing mission outcomes while ensuring safety, interoperability, customization, and cost-effectiveness. Responsibilities Translate operational requirements into detailed specifications for payloads and components using energetic materials. Develop and implement comprehensive Test Safety Plans (TSPs) and conduct hazard analyses to guarantee the safe execution of live-fire and laboratory tests. Design and execute custom test series including modeling, simulation, benchtop experiments, and operational tests for payload effectiveness. Utilize sophisticated diagnostics such as high-speed video, flash X-ray, photon Doppler velocimetry (PDV), and pressure/Time of Arrival (TOA) probes during evaluations. Support the formulation, pressing, casting, and modification of components to enhance lethality, impulse, and fragmentation signatures. Participate in sensitivity and shock-to-detonation transition experiments to enhance the safety and performance of payloads. Contribute to integrating computational modeling and scaling processes, linking chemistry, processing, and performance metrics. Document and report findings from tests, including post-test analyses and recommendations for operational enhancements and further developments. Key Qualifications An Associate's degree in a relevant field with a minimum of 7 years of experience, or a comparable combination of education and experience. Strong problem-solving abilities and proven success as a team player. Solid technical knowledge and troubleshooting expertise to tackle complex challenges. Adept at creating and following intricate procedures. Demonstrates a thorough understanding of applications through innovative troubleshooting and accurate interpretation of results. Preferred Qualifications Experience with model-based systems engineering (MBSE) methodologies. Familiarity with DoD Architecture Framework (DoDAF) and/or Unified Architectural Framework (UAF).
