Overview: This position offers flexibility, with options for remote work or a hybrid model based at our Rockford, IL office, along with necessary travel to project sites in the Midwest, potentially up to 50% of the time. The Manager of Electrical Engineering plays a crucial role in delivering technical engineering insights to Project Managers, Craft Supervisors, and Corporate Functional Managers. The goal is to ensure that design development and construction efforts align with engineering standards, codes, specifications, and design instructions pertinent to High Voltage, Medium Voltage, and Transportation electrical projects. This position will also support Pre-Construction efforts, project control processes (including cost, scheduling, and estimating), and oversee subcontractors, collaborating with project construction supervision as required. A company vehicle and fuel card will be provided, along with meals and lodging for overnight travel. Responsibilities: Interpret and understand technical drawings and specifications for electrical and industrial construction. Aid in the preparation of field design change requisitions and 'as built' drawings when necessary. Establish subcontract language, scope, terms, and technical requirements. Develop construction work packages for electrical systems. Manage detailed project schedules to understand the sequence of project activities. Oversee the coordination of material and human resources. Assist Construction Management in reviewing and reporting daily progress. Support subcontractors to align their work with the construction schedule and contract terms. Facilitate technical approvals by engineers and effectively manage design development based on project schedules. Propose modifications to engineering designs and clarify technical documents for subcontractors. Assist in preparing necessary documentation, including QA/QC reports, punch lists, sketches of completed work, and material calculations. Perform additional tasks as assigned. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited institution. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in utility or electrical systems is preferred. Experience in estimating MEP scopes or managing project costs is desirable. P.E. License is a plus—any state. Experience with renewable energy projects related to electrical generation is preferred. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Strong understanding of utility and high/medium voltage project design and engineering. Awareness of construction activities related to material, equipment, cost, and time requirements. Technical engineering knowledge, including computing skills. Familiarity with industrial construction codes. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook), AutoCAD, and Document Control Systems. Excellent oral and written communication skills; additional language skills are a plus as per business needs. Able to work independently and collaboratively within a team on all phases of an EPC Project with minimal supervision.
