GAI Consultants is excited to announce an opening for a Relay Settings Engineer (EIT Level 2) specializing in protective relay systems for transmission and distribution networks. As part of our team, you will engage in a variety of substation and protection engineering projects, particularly detailed designs for high voltage substations up to 500kV. Key Responsibilities: Develop Protective Relay Settings for microprocessor relays, including brands like SEL, GE, and ABB, focusing on transmission line relays and substation equipment. Conduct short circuit analysis and relay coordination studies using tools such as Aspen OneLiner and PSS CAPE. Utilize SEL AcSELerator Quickset and GE EnerVista software effectively. Implement control and protection schemes, including interpreting schematics and wiring diagrams while preparing relay logic. Provide mentorship and guidance to junior staff members. Manage tasks across multiple projects while adhering to GAI's high project management standards. Balance competing priorities using practical engineering and financial judgment to find optimal solutions. Demonstrate flexibility to manage shifting deadlines and scope changes. Apply resource management skills to identify and mitigate project barriers without affecting the schedule. Travel Requirements: Willingness to travel up to 10% for job site visits or client meetings as needed. General Characteristics: Gain fundamental knowledge and develop skills in specialized practice areas through mentorship and experience. Apply standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to execute tasks as part of broader assignments. Experience Requirements: Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience. Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering. Certification: Must have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and obtained Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Engineering Intern (EI) certification. Technical Responsibilities: Perform basic design tasks and assist with field activities, material testing, CADD work, permit applications, and report writing. Project Management: Responsible for managing personal tasks and meeting deadlines without direct managerial responsibilities at this level. Management Oversight: Receive close supervision on challenging tasks and a general review of all work aspects, complemented by mentorship from a licensed engineer. Communication Skills: Demonstrate basic oral and written communication skills and engage in limited interactions with project stakeholders. Why Join GAI?
