RN - MedSurg/Tele • About Facility: o 101 licensed beds o No Trauma Designation o Not a Teaching hospital o Chest Pain Center o Stroke Center o Radius rule: Traveler's permanent address must be 50 miles outside of home unit • Unit Information: o Beds: 38 • Average Census? 34 o Minimum Years of Experience required? 18 months PCU experience o Will you accept a first-time traveler? Yes • Patient Types/Common Diagnoses: o Stroke, CHF, Electrolyte imbalance, arrythmias, etc. • Patient Ratios: o RN: 1:5 • Required Licensure & Certifications: o PCU & Med/Tele RN: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS • Skills required: o PCU & Med/Tele RN: Cardiac gtt experience, cardiac rhythm interpretation, chest tubes, trach care, blood products, wound care/dressing changes, etc. • Support within the Department: o CNA available - vitals, blood sugar, call lights, ice/water, room tidiness, bathing among other duties o Receptionist/HUC? Yes o Charge nurse - typically free floating o Phlebotomy? Lab draws blood except from lines o IV/VAT Team? Yes o RT 24/7? Yes o Hospitalist 24/7? Yes o Telemetry monitoring/tech? Yes, monitored by monitor tech • Technology/Equipment: o EMR: Epic o IV Pump: Alaris o Med dispensing: Omnicell o Monitors: Phillips o Unit specific equipment: bladder scanner, IV pumps, SCDs, Telemetry monitoring • Floating: o Within region and scope of practice o Will be required to float per region needs - will require floating to all facilities listed below, as needed, within scope of practice - DECLINE if not agreeable • Region 3 - Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division (CMC Main + Mercy + LCH) • If floating mid-shift, Traveler will be paid for the time traveling between facilities (will remain on the clock) • Orientation (facility and unit): o NEO o 2 days departmental • Scheduling: o Weekend rotation: every other o No call required o Holiday Expectations: Travelers will work 75% of holidays o RTO: Can approve up to 6 days off, excluding holidays - must add time to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours o Schedule cycle: every 6 weeks • Other notes: o Scrub Color: Navy o Parking: Free o Unit Culture: positive culture, family oriented
