Are you a master fabricator who leads from the front? We are seeking a versatile, hands-on Piping & Structural Steel Lead to oversee shop and field operations. This isn't a "clipboard only" job. We need a multifaceted leader who can manage crews, coordinate complex production schedules, and strike an arc alongside the team when the pressure is on. If you possess a high-level technical pedigree in welding and the grit to supervise a high-output environment, we want to hear from you. The Role: Leadership Meets Craftsmanship As the Lead , you are the bridge between blueprints and the finished build. You will wear multiple hats-acting as a technical expert, a safety enforcer, and a production strategist. Core Responsibilities: Production Oversight: Lead fabrication and piping crews; adjust manpower and priorities in real-time to meet project deadlines. Expert Fabrication: Perform high-precision cutting, fitting, and welding. Proficient in TIG, MIG, and Flux-Cored processes (No Stick required). Material Mastery: Work across carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum with surgical precision. Technical Interpretation: Read and interpret complex blueprints and process flow diagrams to create accurate cutting lists and layouts. Safety & Quality: Conduct daily safety briefings, enforce OSHA standards, and perform rigorous in-process inspections to ensure zero-defect delivery. Mentorship: Coach new hires and veterans alike, fostering a culture of discipline and skill growth. Reporting: Maintain the shop's pulse through daily production reports, attendance tracking, and equipment maintenance. Qualifications & Requirements Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience in process piping and structural steel. Welding Prowess: Proven expertise in TIG, MIG, and Flux-Cored welding. Leadership: Previous experience as a Lead with a reputation for efficiency. Versatility: The physical and mental agility to pivot between planning and heavy shop work. salary: $28 - $38 per hour shift: First work hours: 6:30 AM - 3 PM education: High School Responsibilities Key Responsibilities Production Leadership: Supervise fabrication and installation crews; manage workflows, manpower, and project timelines to ensure on-time delivery and optimal productivity. Hands-On Fabrication: Actively perform high-precision cutting, fitting, and welding (TIG, MIG, Flux-Cored) across carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. Technical Oversight: Interpret complex blueprints and process flow diagrams; translate specifications into actionable cutting lists and layout plans for the team. Quality Assurance: Conduct rigorous in-process and final inspections to verify all work meets strict engineering drawings and industry standards. Safety & Compliance: Lead daily safety briefings and enforce total OSHA compliance; maintain a "safety-first" culture through regular equipment inspections and hazard mitigation. Operational Coordination: Bridge the gap between the shop and the office; report daily progress, track material usage, and coordinate equipment maintenance/repairs. Mentorship & Performance: Provide real-time skills coaching for welders and fitters; maintain a disciplined, high-morale environment through active field supervision. Administrative Reporting: Document attendance, overtime, and production metrics; provide management with regular updates on resource needs and project bottlenecks.
