All Applicants must have the following: should be actively enrolled in University of Maryland Baltimore County (preferred), nearby accredited institution, or resides less than 20 miles from the area and in great academic standing (GPA of 3.0 or better) with attending university. Your role as an AI Researcher Intern Receive personalized training from an IT professional with 20+ years of experience in DoD and private industry. Work on real-world projects supporting our Recruitment and IT teams. Enhance your technical skills through a customized instructional plan. Support applied AI research by reading recent papers, reproducing baseline results, and translating research ideas into working prototypes. Design and run experiments: define hypotheses, set up datasets, track metrics, and analyze results to improve model performance and reliability. Build and evaluate models using Python-based ML tooling (e.g., data preprocessing, training loops, evaluation harnesses, and error analysis). Strengthen your problem-solving, time management, and communication skills in a professional setting. Complete IT coursework and projects under expert mentorship. Must provide a copy of transcripts (official or unofficial from current academic semester term showing 3.0 GPA or better) Copy of Writing sample Must be committed to attending the full 8 weeks of the internship. Qualification: Required: Academic Background Actively pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related field. GPA: Minimum of a 3.0 Programming Skills: Experience or coursework in languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript or C++. Experience with agentic coding tools such as Codex, Claude Code or Gemini. Location: Reside within 20 miles of Baltimore, Maryland, or attend a nearby accredited institution (e.g., University of Maryland Baltimore County preferred). Deep Learning Tooling: Familiarity with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow, and comfort using notebooks, version control, and experiment tracking to iterate quickly and reproducibly. Research & Experimentation: Ability to read and summarize technical papers, implement or adapt algorithms from descriptions, and communicate findings through concise write-ups and presentations. Personal Attributes: Problem-solving abilities, analytical mindset, and excellent communication skills Preferred: Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
