Job Description

Position: Human Resources Generalist Location: Rochester, NY, in-office position Pay Rate: $22.15 - $27.70 per hour Livingston Associates has partnered with a local nonprofit organization to support the search for their next Human Resources Generalist. The Human Resources Generalist serves as a trusted partner to leaders and employees, providing both day-to-day HR support and consultative guidance. This role supports recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, HR data management, compliance, benefits administration, and performance management within a mission-driven, highly regulated environment. Key Responsibilities Maintain accurate employee records and HR systems (ATS/HRIS) Prepare reports and track HR metrics (turnover, retention, time-to-fill, etc.) Respond to routine HR inquiries Maintain HR forms, policies, and internal resources Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws Maintain employee records and HR policies Coordinate employee access changes and regulatory requirements Administer health, retirement, and other benefit programs Support open enrollment and employee benefit inquiries Coordinate leave administration (FMLA, disability, paid leave, etc.) Provide guidance on HR policies and employee concerns Support conflict resolution and corrective action processes Assist with engagement, retention, stay, and exit interviews Manage full-cycle recruitment Partner with hiring managers to meet staffing needs Facilitate onboarding to ensure a positive employee experience Support performance reviews, goal setting, and development planning Assist with training coordination and workforce development initiatives Qualifications Associate's degree required; Bachelor's degree and/or HR certification preferred Minimum 2 years of HR experience, ideally in a mission-driven or nonprofit setting Knowledge of employment law and HR best practices Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills Experience with HRIS/ATS systems (e.g., Paylocity, ADP) Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally as needed This is a full time position
