Learn more about Blythedale on our website here. Overview Blythedale Children's Hospital seeks a Pediatric Rehabilitation Psychologist to join our interdisciplinary rehabilitation program. This role provides treatment for children and adolescents with acquired brain injury and complex medical conditions. Embedded within a highly collaborative team, with a focus on supporting cognitive, emotional, behavioral, and family adjustment during intensive inpatient recovery. Additionally, the Pediatric Rehabilitation Psychologist will be involved in our Day Hospital and future growth in expanding outpatient services. The Pediatric Rehabilitation Psychologist reports to the Director of Psychology. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm or 9am-5pm. ResponsibilitiesClinical Care (Primary Focus: Inpatient Rehabilitation) Provide evidence-based psychological assessment and intervention for rehabilitation populations of children and adolescents including a mix of medically complex, developmental disorders, and acquired brain injury and related neurological conditions. Address adjustment, emotional regulation, behavioral challenges, pain, fatigue, adherence, and coping during inpatient rehabilitation. Support behavior regulation and engagement in therapies in collaboration with OT, PT, SLP, nursing, and medical staff. Provide family-centered care, including caregiver education, coaching, and emotional support during hospitalization. Contribute to behavior plans and environmental support using trauma-informed and developmentally sensitive approaches. Interdisciplinary Collaboration Participate actively in interdisciplinary team meetings, rounds, and care planning. Provide consultation to rehabilitation staff on behavioral, emotional, and cognitive factors affecting recovery and participation. Collaborate closely with medical team, neuropsychology, psychiatry, social work, child life, education, and rehabilitation leadership. Program Development & Growth Opportunities Involvement in Day Hospital (e.g. day rehabilitation) programming, supporting transition from inpatient to community-based care. Shape/expand outpatient rehabilitation psychology services. Participate in program development, quality improvement initiatives, and outcome tracking. Other duties assigned. QualificationsCompletion of an APA (American Psychology Association) accredited internship. Two (2) years of experience in pediatric rehabilitation, pediatric psychology in a healthcare setting (e.g. hospital, inpatient rehab facility). Experience with pediatric brain injury, neurological conditions, developmental disorders, and complex pediatric medical populations preferred. Postdoctoral training in pediatric psychology, rehabilitation psychology or neuropsychology preferred. Ability to communicate effectively across disciplines and with internal and external stakeholders. Bilingual (English/Spanish) candidates are encouraged to apply. Education, Licensure, and CertificationDoctorate in Clinical Psychology (PhD or PsyD) from an accredited university in the U.S. Current New York State Psychologist license or License eligible within one (1) year of employment.
