Orthopedic TechnologistRancho Mirage, CA 92270Start Date: ASAPEnd Date: 13 weeks after startShift: Day Shift - Possible Temp to HireNote: MUST be legally authorized to work in the United States.RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:Assists the orthopedic physician/PA with patient care including casting, splinting, care of casts/splints/external fixators, and in also in patient intake, rooming, charting/documentation, etc.Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violationOperates according to all policy and procedures, demonstrating competency and knowledge of the clinic environmentAssists physician with procedures; anticipates physician's needs and procures appropriate supplies prior to start of procedureMaintains orderly and appropriately stocked treatment area and exam rooms.Assists with putting away supplies and room turnoverApplies orthopedic devices (i.e., casts, splints, braces) to patients ranging in age from infant to geriatricAccepts responsibilities only within scope of practiceAnswers phone messages and return patient calls during same business dayObtains patient history and prep physician as requestedPerforms removal of sutures or staples; changes dressings; schedules testsLogs nurse notes and medication refills in patient chartsAssists with appropriately managing patient flowCollects documentation for surgery, orders, consents, etc.Prepares surgery charts for doctor and charts for clinic, scans patient recordsProcesses DME applications, if DME Coordinator is not availableKeeps current with new techniques and equipment through participation in continuing educationPerforms other duties as assignedREQUIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS:Skills:Ability to effectively communicate in a positive and professional mannerAbility to operate general office equipment (i.e., computer, printer, scanner, telephone, etc.)Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently to meet deadlinesCritical thinking skillsWritten and verbal communication skillsEducation:Required: High school diploma, GED or higher-level degree if hired after March 1, 2025Licensure/Certification:Required: Orthopedic Tech Certification; American Heart Association BLSExperience:Preferred: Orthopedic experienceWe are an equal opportunity employer, and we are an organization that values diversity.
