Job Description JOB OVERVIEW • Job Title: Gastroenterologist • Job Type: Locum Tenens • Location: Columbia, SC • Service Setting: Inpatient/Outpatient • Coverage Type: Clinical Only • Coverage Period: 05/04/2026 - 13 Weeks • Clinical Shift Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00a - 5:00p (10-Hour Shifts) COVERAGE DATES • Start Date: May 4, 2026 • Assignment Length: 13 Weeks • May 4-8: 2 GI Providers • May 11-15: 3 GI Providers • May 18-22: 3 GI Providers • May 25-29: 3 GI Providers • June 1-5: 2 GI Providers PATIENT INFORMATION • Patient Demographics: Adults • Patient Volume/Census: 3-5 Patients Per Day; 2-3 Procedures Per Week • Admissions: Yes (Hospital Consults as Needed) • Rounding: Included (3:00p-5:00p Inpatient Rounding/Procedures) • Phone Consults: Yes • Case Mix: General Gastroenterology; Upper Endoscopy, Colonoscopy, Consultative Services (No ERCP/EUS Required) FACILITY INFORMATION • EMR System: Epic • Office Equipment Available: Outpatient Endoscopy Suite and Hospital-Based GI Resources • Specialty Backup Available: Multispecialty Hospital Support • Support Staff Available: Endoscopy and Hospital GI Team Support • Reason for Coverage: Supplemental Coverage PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE • Hospital Privileges Required: Yes • Credentialing Timeline: Approximately 60-90 Days with Clean Background COMPENSATION & BENEFITS • Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance: All Travel Billable; Malpractice Covered REQUIRED PROCEDURES • Upper Endoscopy • Colonoscopy • Inpatient Gastroenterology Consults JOB REQUIREMENTS • Licenses: Active South Carolina Medical License Required • Board: Board Certified in Gastroenterology Required • DEA: Active DEA Required • Certifications: ACLS and BLS Required • Experience: Minimum 2 Years Gastroenterology Experience • Other Qualifications: Clean Background Required; Name Clear and NPI Required DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES • Perform outpatient endoscopic procedures from 7:30a-3:00p • Conduct inpatient rounding and procedures from 3:00p-5:00p • Float between outpatient endoscopy center and hospital facilities • Document all encounters accurately within Epic EMR • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality patient care
