ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Regularly monitor plating process to ensure process stays within established parameters. Regularly monitor processes in EPF Department. Coordinate PM and work orders to ensure timely completion. Work as Rack Repair or Plater Deck Operator as needed, and perform all duties of those positions. Work to improve process and procedures to reduce scrap, downtime, and to increase efficiency. Coordinate repairs and personnel needed to repair them as necessary. Assist in correcting problems with plating process. Train new personnel for Plater Deck Operator and Rack Repair positions on all shifts. Order parts supplies as needed. Write, or assist in the writing of, procedures relative to the EPF Department. Schedule production for the plater in the absence of the Department Manager. Monitor chemical inventory. Work all shifts as needed to train or cover for absences when necessary. Maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times. Other job duties as assigned by supervisor. SPECIAL JOB CONSIDERATION: Possible problems if color blind. Must be able to differentiate change in color after testing water. Note: Type of acceptable color blindness depends on needs of test. Also, cannot have respiratory problems such as asthma, emphysema or other pulmonary restrictions. TRAINING DESIRED: Statistical Process Control, Linear Measuring and Problem Solving Training. On-the-job training. TYPICAL MACHINES AND EQUIPMENT INVOLVED: Plater Line, Filters, Rectifiers, Plater Arm, Electric Pumps, Electric Motors, Dryer, Control Panel, Boiler, High Lift, Racks, Grinders, Pump Cart, Evaporators, Nickel Recovery Unit, Washer and DI Units. TOOLS AND GAGES: TDS, Ph and DI Meters, Thermometers, Digital Readout on Tanks, Air Wrenches, Mechanical Hand Tools, Hoist, Infrared Heat Gun, Barrel Pumps (Electric & Hand), etc. TYPICAL PRODUCTS INVOLVED: Steel, nickel, chrome, acids, caustics, soaps, grease, oils, paint, etc. METHOD OF JOB ASSIGNMENT: Verbal and written instructions. QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to complete Statistical Process Control Charts (SPC). Basic math is essential, chemistry helpful. Should possess good interpersonal skills and Problem Solving ability. Must be physically able to perform Plater Deck Operator & Rack Repair duties. Minimum of 2-3 years work as Plater Deck Operator (or similar experience) required.
