Job Description Security Watch, Inc. is hiring Armed Security Officers for a federal security services contract supporting the U.S. Army Engineer District Galveston at the Fort Point Reservation. This position requires candidates to meet federal security guard qualification standards before employment. Applicants are encouraged to review the eligibility checklist below to confirm they meet the minimum contract requirements before applying. Requirements Applicant Qualification Checklist Candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for employment: Age Requirement Applicants must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age. Age verification is documented through the Statement of Personal History (SWG Form 579). Education Requirement Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent and be able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Experience Requirement Applicants must have a minimum of two (2) years of experience in one of the following areas: civilian law enforcement, military law enforcement, or commercial or industrial security guard services. Texas Security Licensing Applicants must be able to obtain or possess a Texas Level III commissioned security officer license and successfully complete the Security Commission Course certified by the State of Texas. Firearms Qualification Security personnel must be trained and qualified with a 9mm firearm or equivalent weapon system and meet all applicable federal and Texas firearms requirements before assignment to an armed post. Background Screening Applicants must successfully complete federal security screening requirements, which include submission of the following documentation prior to assignment: SF-85P Questionnaire for Public Trust Positions Fingerprint chart (FD-258) Statement of Personal History (SWG Form 579) Criminal history statement from the Galveston County Clerk's Office National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) background investigation when applicable. Medical and Physical Fitness Standards Applicants must be in good general health and free from physical conditions that would interfere with the performance of duties. Medical qualification must be documented through a Certification of Medical Examination (Standard Form 78) completed by a licensed physician. Vision and Hearing Requirements Vision must be binocular and correctable to 20/20 (Snellen). Applicants may not be colorblind. Applicants must also be able to hear normal conversation at twenty feet and whispered conversation at ten feet without hearing aids. Height and Weight Standards Applicants must meet the height and weight standards established in the Galveston District Guard Manual. Maximum weight is determined by height, age, and gender. For example, a male applicant who is 70 inches tall must not exceed 223 pounds if age 21-27, 227 pounds if age 28-39, or 232 pounds if age 40 or older. A female applicant who is 65 inches tall must not exceed 171 pounds if age 21-27, 175 pounds if age 28-39, or 179 pounds if age 40 or older. Height is measured in stocking feet, and weight is measured to the nearest pound, with five pounds deducted from the scale weight to account for clothing. Ongoing Compliance Height and weight are documented during the initial medical examination and monitored throughout employment. Supervisors conduct periodic weigh-ins, and personnel who fall outside the standard are provided a sixty-day period to return to compliance. Appearance and Professional Standards Security personnel must maintain professional grooming standards and wear contractor-provided uniforms while on duty in accordance with the Galveston District Guard Manual. Location of Work All services are performed at the U.S. Army Engineer District Galveston headquarters located at Fort Point Reservation in Galveston, Texas.
