Our learning environments wil Job Summary Under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent, to serve as the educational leader; to be responsible for leading their Professional Learning Community and ensure that it positively impacts student achievement; to be responsible for direction of the instructional program, operation of the school plan, participation in staff and student activities; and exercise leadership in the community. Job Description / Essential Elements: DEFINITION AND FUNCTION: Under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent, to serve as the educational leader; to be responsible for leading their Professional Learning Community and ensure that it directly impacts student achievement; to be responsible for direction of the instructional program, operation of the school plan, participation in staff and student activities; and exercise leadership in the community ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Curriculum development and instructional leadership Development of educational goals and objectives of the school Responsible for leading the PLC at school site Responsible for ensuring learning for all students Facilitates and guides discussions around student learning Supervision and evaluation of all certificated and classified staff assigned to the school Responsible for participation in selection of personnel Administration and supervision of special projects and special education programs and personnel assigned to the school Facilitates and initiates school staff development programs Administration of the pupil guidance and testing programs including interpretation of data relative to these programs Facilitates communication and interaction between students, teachers, parents and the District Promotes physical and mental well-being of students Interprets and implements District policies and practices Serves as a liaison with the local school community Develops budget and management of school. Gathers data and completes reports punctually Monitors equipment and materials assigned to the school Manages school plan and site Participates in district in-service programs Promotes a professional attitude among the staff Develops and implements educational programs articulated with other school and programs Established, interprets, and implements school policies and procedures Monitors and promotes fundraising activities Serves as part of district Management Team Functions as a leader with direct involvement in instructional policy Creates high expectations in the school Monitors student progress and teacher effectiveness Demonstrates commitment to academic goals and strong achievement goals Effectively consults with others by involving faculty and others in school decisions Speaks and writes clearly and effectively Applies skills and strategies of conflict management and problem solving techniques Demonstrates ability to use a variety of group interaction skills Demonstrates skills in working as a team member Demonstrates high visibility to staff, students, parents and community QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge and skills of: School law administration and applicable sections of the State Education Code and other applicable laws California Content Standards, K-12 California Curriculum Frameworks and instructional materials California Professional Standards for teachers and administrators Practices and principles of administration, supervision and training Legal uses of categorical funding Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy labor relations laws and union contracts Section 504 procedures Instructional practices for at-risk adolescents Board and district policies, procedures, and regulations Basic computer operation Ability to: Organize, coordinate, and administer assigned programs and activities related to student discipline, attendance, and instruction at school Keep confidential discussions confidential Administrative duties involving student conduct, curriculum development, and school plant operations as assigned Prepare and deliver oral presentations Establish, coordinate, and maintain communication with community and parent groups; Assist with the implementation, evaluation, and modification of instructional and categorical programs in accordance with applicable laws Plan and organize work Complete work with many interruptions Read, interpret, apply, and explain rules, regulations, policies, and procedures Communicate effectively orally and in writing Analyze situations with accuracy and adopt an appropriate plan of action Meet schedules and timelines; and Present a positive image of Golden Valley Unified School District Education and Experience: A Bachelor's degree, five years of classroom experience, an Administrative Services credential, elementary experience preferred Licenses and Certificates: Valid California Driver's license WORKING CONDITIONS: Environment: Office, classroom, and outdoor environment with constant interruptions Physical Abilities: Speaking and hearing in order to exchange information and make presentations; seeing to read a variety of materials; sitting and standing for extended amounts of time Hazards: Contact with dissatisfied or abusive students, parents, and staff REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent FSLA: Exempt CLASSIFICATION: Management WORK YEAR: 202 Days SALARY: Class F FUNDING: General Funding Requirements / Qualifications
