Civil Engineering Intern - Summer Internship

Salary: $20.00 - $25.00 Hourly Location : Winnetka, IL Job Type: Full-time Job Number: 20260107 Department: Engineering Opening Date: 01/07/2026 General Purpose The Village of Winnetka's Engineering Department is seeking student applicants for the temporary position of Civil Engineering Intern. This position is expected to begin work in late-May and continue through August (approximately 10 to 12 weeks). The Civil Engineering Intern will be responsible for supporting the Engineering Department in the planning, designing, administration, and construction of capital improvement and maintenance projects. Primary Duties: Perform construction inspections. Perform traffic counts. Participate on survey crews. Prepare CAD drawings. Data collection and research. Desired Minimum QualificationsMinimum Qualifications: At least 18 years of age. Full-time student of sophomore status or higher pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering at an accredited college or university. General knowledge of civil engineering concepts, practices, and theories. Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Access; GIS systems; and ability to learn other software programs. Ability to read, clearly speak, and legibly write the English language. Valid driver's license. Other Requirements This is a temporary full-time position for the summer months in 2026. Typical work hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., 40 hours weekly. Work may be performed in outdoor conditions and/or near vehicular traffic.
