Job Summary Our client is seeking a dedicated Medical Laboratory Scientist with a focus on Blood Bank operations. This role entails performing highly complex testing to ensure blood product compatibility, managing life-saving inventory, and supporting Level 1 Trauma responses. Key Responsibilities Perform ABO/Rh typing, antibody screening, and cross-matching using automated platforms and manual gel/tube methods. Resolve complex antibody workups and identify clinically significant alloantibodies to ensure safe transfusions. Thaw FFP/Cryo, wash or irradiate red cells, and prepare platelets for infusion. Execute Massive Transfusion Protocols (MTP) with speed and accuracy during trauma or surgical emergencies. Maintain rigorous QC records for reagents and equipment; ensure compliance with AABB, FDA, and CAP regulations. Act as a technical resource for nursing and medical staff regarding blood component selection and transfusion reactions. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in medical laboratory science/medical technology or Bachelor's degree in chemical or biological science, along with MLS/MT or categorical certification (ASCP, AMT). 1+ years experience in Blood Bank. Preferred MLS/MT categorical certification (ASCP, AMT, HEW, AAB). Benefits Paid Sick Leave (Medix provides paid sick leave according to state and local sick leave ordinances).
