Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit: The Office of Campus Activities and Programs is a department within the Division of Student Affairs at UNC Greensboro (UNCG). The mission of the Office of Campus Activities & Programs (CAP) is to provide opportunities for students to create meaningful relationships, explore interests, and develop a sense of self and an appreciation for their community. We support opportunities for transformative learning through involvement. We encourage participation and engagement in student groups; planning, executing, and experiencing campus events and programs; and fostering leadership in the community are cornerstones of involvement. Specific departmental responsibilities include the coordination of student group affiliation, student group leadership and training development, campus wide programming, and administrative advising of select student groups including Activities and Campus Events (ACE), Fraternity and Sorority Life, the Student Government Association (SGA), and student media. Additional responsibilities include planning major campus traditions such as Rawkin Welcome Weeks, Homecoming, All Greek Leadership Summit, Winterfest, the Spartans of Excellence banquet, SOAR presentations for new students, and other traditional programs. Position Summary: Reporting to the Associate Director for Campus Activities and Programs, the Program Coordinator for Campus Activities & Programs (CAP) advises and supports student groups to manage and promote development and campus-wide programming. This position contributes to a dynamic and team-oriented environment while also consistently demonstrating the ability to take initiative and manage individual responsibilities effectively. The Coordinators work is accomplished through the teaching, training, support, and empowerment of students, with a strong emphasis on relationship-building, communication, extensive problem-solving, and a commitment to creating inclusive and engaging campus experiences. The role requires flexibility to work evening, late-night, and weekend hours during the academic year, with planning and assessment responsibilities occurring throughout the year. The Coordinator must be able to communicate clearly and respectfully with students, colleagues, and campus partners; exhibit strong organizational, time management, and conflict resolution skills; demonstrate autonomy, responsiveness, accountability, and follow-through on assigned tasks, and be able to work both independently and as an active member of a collaborative team. This position may supervise paraprofessionals such as student employees and one to three Graduate Assistants. The Coordinator will oversee specific program functions and guide students in carrying out responsibilities through careful supervision and the evaluation and modification of current relative practices and processes. The Coordinator interacts regularly with professional staff, students, alumni, faculty, and external partners. Successfully establishing, maintaining, and nurturing these campus partnerships is critical to the overall success of the department. Minimum Qualifications: A relevant Bachelors degree and two years of directly related experience working with student activities and campus programming, OR a Masters degree in Student Personnel, Student Development, Educational Administration, or a closely related field. Preferred Qualifications: Masters degree in Student Personnel, Student Development, Educational Administration, or a closely related field and one year of full-time experience working with student activities, student groups, and campus programming. Graduate assistantship experience will be considered. Advises leaders of over 250 student organizations throughout the planning and implementation of campus programs. Models program planning skills to student group members. Manages the annual student organization registration process, including new student organization recognition, and ensures proper adherence to university recognition requirements within the student group management database system (Spartan Connect, UNCGs Modern Campus Involve product). Evaluates, continually develops, and administers a student group and advisor training series. Oversees student group office and storage spaces. Responsible for decision-making and the implementation of the aspects of large-scale annual events related to this positions duties. These major annual traditional events include, but may not be limited to: Rawkin Welcome Week, Fall Kickoff, Winter Involvement Fair, Spartan Family Weekend, Homecoming, end of semester events, and the Spartans of Excellence awards. Negotiates contracts with agents, vendors, and performers while maintaining University policies and guidelines. Percentage Of Time: 10 Key Responsibility: Student Group Space Reservation Management Essential Tasks: Serves as the primary source for student organization space reservations. Explains and discusses room setups, A/V needs, and equipment availability with student organizations. Provides training and advisement to student organizations regarding event planning and logistics, the room reservation process, policies, and risk management. Develops expertise in Events Management Software (VEMS) for reserving and managing student organization events and activities. Percentage Of Time: 20 Key Responsibility: Student Group and Campus Partner Assessment and Development Essential Tasks: Creates, administers, and responds to research surveys and evaluations to analyze campus constituents needs, interests, and feedback. Promptly devises and carries out a plan to address action items indicated by survey responses, directly impacting campus climate and student group and campus partner satisfaction. Percentage Of Time: 5 Key Responsibility: Supervision Essential Tasks: Supervises CAP office student employees (3-5) who are responsible for providing support and information to all CAP staff team members, over 250 student organizations, and other visitors to the office. Percentage Of Time: 5 Key Responsibility: Professional Development Essential Tasks: Serves on departmental, divisional, and institutional committees as needed and as requested including standing committees or ad hoc committees, such as search committees. Maintains thorough knowledge of State and University policies as they relate to student activities, purchasing, contract negotiations and building operations. Contributes to the body of knowledge in the student activities and college union field through the development and implementation of presentations for regional and national conferences with organizations such as the National Association of Campus Activities (NACA) and the Association of College International (ACUI), and through publications in journals such as Campus Activities Programming.
