About the Role The Death Claims and Beneficiary Specialist prepares and processes insurance death claims as deaths are reported. This role changes and maintains beneficiaries on life policies so accurate records are retained. This role also prepares state reports for annual compliance reporting for unclaimed funds. Responsibilities Receive inbound phone calls helping members determine what needs to be done with their beneficiary(s) or provide assistance in completing forms they received. Begin the insurance death claim process when notified, and guide beneficiaries through the claim process with phone calls, letters and email. Input the data in the policy database and Excel. Process claim checks from routine to highly complex. Input and process change of beneficiary information as it’s received into the policy database. Barcode and scan claims and change of beneficiary information into document imaging system. Filing and general office duties. Research and locate heirs/next of kin/beneficiaries. Prepare annual state reports for unclaimed funds. Review state regulations and adjust procedures for compliance. Perform due-diligence. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent 2 + years of office work experience Required Skills Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Intermediate computer proficiency – keyboard, mouse, copy/paste, typing, navigating between windows Experience with a financial services organization preferred Preferred Skills None specified Pay range and compensation package Compensation details are not specified in the job description.
